Malika Haqq And O.T. Genasis Call It Quits: “He Cheated Multiple Times”

by , in

Malika Haqq made a post on Instagram that left fans wondering if she and O.T. Genasis were having trouble in paradise. “Love doesn’t fail, people do,” she wrote. “Falling in love can be one of the most beautiful things. Unfortunately, being vulnerable to one’s choices can lead to heartbreak. Healing and forgiving is a personal job done at every individual’s pace. Life is one big lesson, a lesson in love.”

Now, we have learned that her post is linked to her breakup with #OTGenasis. Apparently, he cheated on her multiple times and she isn’t here for the shenanigans and is calling it quits.
A close source tells us that women have been all up and through her DMs warning her of his cheating. “He cheated multiple times,” the source told us. “He’s out all the time and staying at hotels. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what he’s up to.”

How are y’all feeling about the breakup

Diddy Drops $21.1 Million On A Painting By Kerry James Marshall

by , in

Just in case you needed a reminder, #Diddy is THAT guy!! He just made history by purchasing what is believed to be the most expensive art piece created by a living African-American artist. The music mogul has been revealed as the buyer for a piece called ‘Past Times’ by #KerryJamesMarshall which depicts black people enjoying a Park day in Chicago.

Back in 1998, Marshall explained the inspiration behind his work. “Style is such an integral part of what black people do that just walking is not a simple thing. You’ve got to walk with style. You’ve got to talk with a certain rhythm; you’ve got to do things with some flair,” he added: “I try to enact that same tendency toward the theatrical that seems to be so integral a part of the black cultural body.”
Diddy reportedly dropped about $21.1 million on the painting last Wednesday at a Sotheby’s auction in NYC. The Bad Boy Records CEO was put onto Marshall’s work by superstar producer Swizz Beatz.
Take a look at the painting below:

“Past Times” After completing the Garden Project series, Marshall painted “Past Times,” which moves into the shared public space of the city. High-rise towers appear in the distance, but the focal point is an urban pastoral scene, filled with green grass and blue water. The African American figures—all dressed in white—are engaged in various forms of recreation. The painting depicts leisurely pastimes, but the title points to the past. In this respect, the perfect scene might suggest a history that hasn’t happened yet or desire come to life. The family in the foreground stares back at the viewer as if just interrupted. The songs on their radios suggest two divergent outlooks: a runaway imagination and a reality check—“got my money on my mind.” Learn more: http://bit.ly/1T7DDRn All images and details: Kerry James Marshall “Past Times,” 1997 Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, McCormick Place Art Collection Photo: Nathan Keay, © MCA Chicago

Grocery Store Sees Dirty Word In ‘Summa Cum Laude’ & Censors Graduation Cake

by , in

A mother in Charleston, S.C. was in for a rude awakening when she received her son’s graduation cake. She had requested that her son’s cake say “Congrats Jacob Summa Cum Laude,” but the bakers weren’t feeling one of the words and censored it.

According to The Root, Cara Koscinski was trying to surprise her home-schooled son with the graduation cake. She ordered the cake from Publix and claims that when she started typing “Summa Cum Laude” into the system, the word “cum” was censored.
Cara left a comment in the ordering field and told them what the phrase meant but clearly it didn’t matter, even though she dropped $70 on the cake.
When Cara’s husband picked up the cake from Publix they were caught off guard when the cake read “Summa —- Laude.”
“The cake experience was kind of frustrating and humiliating because I had to explain to my friends and family like what that meant. And they were giggling uncontrollably. At least my friends were,” Koscinski’s son Jacob told WCIV ABCNews4.
Publix ended up apologizing to the family and offered to remake the cake, but they declined.

Parents Successfully Sue Their 30-Year-Old Son To Finally Get Him To Move Out

by , in

Divvys Blog Readers (DBRs), what’s an appropriate age to move up out of your parents’ house? A couple from New York state had to take drastic measures to finally kick their 30-year-old son out, but it worked!

According to ABC 7, Mark and Christina Rotondo’s son Michael refused to move out of their Syracuse-area home so they decided to sue him!
“After a discussion with your Mother, we have decided that you must leave this house immediately,” the father wrote to his son in an official notice, according to CBS. “You have 14 days to vacate. You will not be allowed to return. We will take whatever actions are necessary to enforce this decision.”
Even after several notices, the parents claimed that Michael wouldn’t leave. His argument? He said that legally he wasn’t given enough notice and that an additional six months was more of a reasonable time frame for him.
They even sent this an eviction notice. “Michael Joseph Rotondo, You are hereby evicted from 4** Weatheridge Drive, Camillus, New York effective immediately,” the letter said. “You have heretofore been our guest and there is no lease or agreement that gives you any right to stay here without our consent… A legal enforcement procedure will be instituted immediately if you do not leave by 15 March 2018.”
They went on to offer Michael — who moved back in with his parents after losing his job eight years ago — $1,100 to help him get on his feet. But, after he refused to take the money, they had to take things to court.
On Tuesday, State Supreme Court Judge Donald Greenwood ruled that Michael has to pack his stuff and leave! The 30-year-old called the judge’s ruling “outrageous.”

Kevin Federline Wants “At Least 3 Times” More In Child Support From Brittney Spears

by , in

We all know what happened between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline years ago. He danced his way into her heart and is now trying to slide even further into her wallet!

According to court documents obtained by the @Blast, K.Fed isn’t happy with his $20K monthly child support checks and believes he should get at least 3 times as much. K.Fed’s argument is basically that Britney is “one of the most recognized musical performers of our time” and because of that she needs to come up off that shmoneyyyy!
He also adds he has to work as a DJ because he can’t perform as a dancer anymore “due to his age” and because he hasn’t been successful in putting our new music like he was back in 2008. He ends his statement by saying he would like this substantial increase so he can “secure housing and services required to be able to meet the needs of the parties’ minor children while they are in [Federline’s] custody.”
#Roommates, it’s hard not to think K.Fed’s just after Britt’s money with the type of increase he’s asking for. We’ll keep you up to date on what’s going on!

Things Meghan Markle Won’t Be Able To Do Now That She’s A Royal

by , in

Meghan Markle is out here living that fairy tale life, but she has to abide by the not so fairy tale rules, now that she’s secured the crown!
Megs will have to follow royal protocol on things she’d probably never had to think twice about before.
According to #Buzzfeed, these things include:
  1. Not going to bed before the Queen goes to sleep whenever they’re staying in the same place.
  2. Sis is gonna have to hit what is known as the #DutchessSlant, which means not sitting with her legs crossed—and instead, crossing her ankles, or keeping her knees together, so that the pum put area isn’t exposed.
  3. Meghan can’t wear bold nail polish colors—if you’ve noticed, she’s only been rocking nude tones since #PrinceHarry proposed.
  4. Meghan also isn’t allowed to sign autographs because it risks her signature getting forged.
  5. Another thing #Meghan can’t do that we literally all do is post selfies, nor have her own social media accounts. She’s deleted all social media since becoming more serious with #Harry.
  6. Meghan can’t vote in British elections nor speak out on political or social issues, which was a huge part of her brand here in the U.S.
  7. Sis can’t go shopping by herself or do anything in public alone for obvious reasons.
  8. She can’t wear short hemlines, nor can she show her bare legs.
  9. Last but not least, you may know Meghan from her seven year role on Suits, but she can no longer continue her career as an actress.
Are these rules you could live by if you met your #PrinceCharming Rooomies?

Rickey Smiley,Tyrese & Da Brat Plan On Buying A Car For The Young Man Photographed Walking To The Bus Stop To Get To His Graduation

by , in

Earlier, theshaderoom posted about a young man who was photographed walking to a bus stop to get to his graduation. The photo was posted online, and has since gone viral across the nation.

A lot of people, including myself, wanted to know who this amazing young man in the photo was, and after a couple thousand shares, he has been identified as Corey Patrick, a 2018 graduate from Tarrant High School.
“I was happy on that day,” Corey said.
Corey spoke with Fox 6 News and said that his family didn’t have the transportation to get him there, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him.
“I told Corey, well the best thing to do is just get on the bus and we will work from there,” Corey’s mother Felicia White said.
His family was able to eventually find a ride to his graduation.
“He’s a great young man. He’s very quiet, reserved, humble and he gets a little hardheaded sometimes, but he’s a very obedient child and I’m proud of Corey,” Felicia said .
What makes this story even more powerful is the fact Corey has been making that walk to the bus stop pretty much his whole senior year
“I had to do what was necessary for me to walk this year,” he said.
He recently moved to West End after attending Tarrant City Schools since 4th grade. His mom said he wanted to finish his senior year up with his friends.
“Corey was getting up at 4:30 in the morning and had to be at the bus stop at 5:41 in the morning for the last year. Even when he would get out of school he couldn’t get from that side of town until 5:19 pm when the bus runs back over there. So he doesn’t make it back this way until about 6:30 pm or 7 o’clock,” his mom said.
“I would just like to say thank you to everyone who is supporting Corey and supporting me and I really appreciate it,” said White.
Corey’s story touched many, and on The Rickey Smiley morning show, Tyrese and Da Brat announced that they will be getting him a car!

by , in

So Jacquees got arrested—again. This is the second time he’s been arrested just this month alone. Earlier in the month, he was arrested for disorderly conduct at a Milwaukee airport, and in March, he was arrested in Miami for not wearing his seatbelt, as well as failure to obey a lawful command.

This time, Jacquees was arrested for speeding around 3 a.m. Thursday morning. According to #NYDailyNews, homeboy was hitting 116 mph on the I-85.
When the cop was pulling Jacquees over for the traffic stop, something was allegedly thrown out of the car’s passenger side window. According to a spokesperson, Jacquees told the cop it was weed.

The car was then searched, and they reportedly found three more grams of the weed.
Jacquees was then charged with speeding, littering, reckless driving, and possession of a controlled substance.

The passenger he was with also got charged with possession of a controlled substance when they were taken to the Atlanta City Detention Center.
Let’s hope Jacquees won’t be having any more run-ins with the law any time soon!

Kanye West Bought Whitney Houston Death Bathtub Photo For $85K For Pusha T Album Cover

by , in

Pusha T reveals that Kanye West downed $85,000 for Whitney Houston’s death bathtub photo and here is why.
Pusha T new album Daytona is only hours away from release and the artwork is a bathtub photo. Now we are learning that the bathtub is the same tub that Whitney Houston died in. The late singer’s fans are currently going HAM on Kanye West and Pusha for this one but it’s already a done deal. Ye already shelled out the $85,000 licensing fee to acquire the photo and now it’s all over the internet.
Perhaps this is another clever marketing move on the part of Kanye or could be another dumb controversial move, depending on how it will impact the album sales. Pusha T says Kanye West called him in the middle of the night telling him he has plans to change the artwork and to get the artwork he like cost $85,000 and he already paid for it.
Pusha says he wasn’t about to pay 85 grand for a new artwork when he already had one, but Ye insist that this artwork goes better with the music. “It’s just a picture that to license it worldwide is 85 grand,” Pusha told Angie Martinez in an interview today. “I’m not really too, too, too entrenched in the art world like that. I’m just going to let him do that thing. And he’s paying for it.”

Solicitor General welcomes jail sentence for Shrewsbury false rape claims woman

by , in

The Solicitor General has welcomed the decision to overturn a Shrewsbury woman’s community order for false claims of rape and instead jail her for four years.

Anna Judith Costin, 30, of Coldridge Drive, Shrewsbury, was initially given a three-year community sentence for the crimes at Shrewsbury Crown Court earlier this year.
She had admitted seven counts of perverting the course of justice.
Costin separately accused three men of rape attacks, and a fourth of physically assaulting her in her own home.
The Solicitor General, Robert Buckland QC MP, referred her sentence to the Court of Appeal for being too low. Mr Buckland said it was vital that Costin’s sentence reflected the severity of her crimes – and the effect on her victims’ lives.
He said: “False rape allegations have a serious impact not only on the lives of the accused, but can also have an indirect but profoundly damaging effect on genuine victims of rape. It is important that Costin’s sentence reflects the gravity of her crimes.”
All three men accused of rape had to undergo intrusive medical examinations, and one of them was said to be particularly vulnerable due to his mental state.
Costin’s false complaints were levelled against her victims between January and March 2016.
The offences followed a similar pattern, said Lady Justice Hallett.
Her case reached the Appeal Court as lawyers for the Attorney General, Jeremy Wright QC, attacked her sentence as “unduly lenient”.
Lady Justice Hallett, sitting with two other judges, noted Costin’s “extensive history of mental health difficulties”.
But she also highlighted the “insidious” nature of her crimes, which had a deeply traumatic impact on her four victims.
Lady Justice Hallett substituted a four-year prison sentence for the community order.
Costin was ordered to surrender to police custody in Shrewsbury by noon yesterday to start her sentence.

Attorney: 13-year-old girl suspected of killing newborn didn't know she was pregnant

by , in

The 13-year-old girl accused of putting her newborn baby into a trash bin never even knew she was pregnant. That's according to the family's attorney.
The girl was arrested for murder, and so far no charges.
We're not identifying her or her family because she's a minor.
Attorney Michael Green says technically she did commit a crime, but the best thing for her is to get a lot of psychiatric help.
The baby was found in a trash bin at the girl's home. Green tells me that the girl who weighed about 80 pounds never showed any signs of pregnancy. He says she gave birth in a bathroom at home, and didn't tell anyone.
Green says the girl then started hemorrhaging, so her mother rushed her to The Queen's Medical Center-West Oahu. Doctors then determined that the girl had given birth.
"So there was no baby anybody saw or knew about until after she was at the hospital. And her mother found out and the police went out and located the child. The child was dead," said Green.
He says the girl was scared and confused and didn't know what else to do.
"You have a little girl that's absolutely terrified at what she did, what they're gonna think about her, what's her mother gonna say? You start thinking about, am I a bad girl? What are my parents gonna think of me? This is the evidence that I was a bad person, that I was having sex with somebody," Green said.
He adds that the baby's father is also 13 years old, and whatever the legal outcome, it's important for the girl to get psychiatric help.
"I'm hoping she gets the right treatment that she needs so she understand that she's not an evil, evil little girl. That stays with her forever," Green said.
Green says the girl is back with her family and attending school.
There is a safe haven law that allows anyone to leave a baby alive at a hospital or police station without being criminally charged. State Rep. John Mizuno introduced the bill and says schools should let teenagers know.
It might be controversial, but he says it could save lives.
"If this could have been avoided. I don't think there's a mom or dad out there that would not say don't give that education to my son or daughter," said Rep. Mizuno.

Cancer drug spending doubled in last 5 years, report says

by , in

Spending on cancer drugs has doubled over the past five years, and little wonder: Every new cancer drug brought to market last year cost $100,000 or more, according to a new report.
The average cost of a new drug released in 2017 was $150,000, according to the report from The IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science, formerly IMS Health and Quintiles.
Those drug costs are expected to double again by 2022, the report finds. That compares to the average $79,000 cost of new cancer drugs that hit the market in 2013.
“Global spending on cancer medicines — both for therapeutic and supportive care use — rose to $133 billion globally in 2017, up from $96 billion in 2013,” the report reads.
But despite outrage among consumers and a focus on drug costs from the Trump administration, cancer patients with commercial health insurance pay on average of $500 out of pocket a year for these drugs, the report finds.
“For retail drugs, the extensive use of coupons helps offset patient out-of-pocket costs,” the report reads.
David Mitchell, a cancer patient who founded the group Patients for Affordable Drugs, said if health insurance companies are shouldering these costs, they’re passing them along to customers in the form of higher premiums.
“Worse, these drugs are almost always built on science paid for by taxpayers through the NIH (National Institutes of Health). So we wind up paying twice — once to invent the drug and again when it comes to market,” he said.
Plus, coupons cannot be used by patients on Medicare, the federal health insurance plan for just about everyone over 65. “So there is no help for patients on that front,” Mitchell said.
“Moreover, the savings from coupons outside of Medicare are more than made up for with increased prices that we pay for in our premiums and taxes.”
Cancer is the No. 2 cause of death in the U.S. and in most other industrialized countries, after heart disease. But for some states, it’s the No. 1 cause of death.
The American Cancer Society predicts that 1.7 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. in 2018, and that more than 609,000 will die of it.
While cancer rates and rates of death have been steadily dropping, drug spending will go up, the IQVIA report predicts.
“The global market for oncology therapeutic medicines will reach as much as $200 billion by 2022, averaging 10 to 13 percent growth over the next five years, with the U.S. market reaching as much as $100 billion by 2022, averaging 12 to 15 percent growth,” it predicts.
So the issue of paying for cancer drugs gets emotional.
Treating cancer has evolved considerably in recent years. Older chemotherapies were toxic and had hit-and-miss success because they relied on killing rapidly growing cells. That approach could kill tumors, but could also take out healthy tissue in the gut and, most noticeably, made hair fall out.
Targeted approaches have helped reduce toxicity and resulted in patients living longer. And targeted immunotherapies, which help the body’s own immune system scour for and destroy cancer cells, have had remarkable results in some people.
That number is limited, and the IQVIA report shows that.
“Most cancer drugs — including those with high annual costs — are used by relatively few patients, with about 87 percent of drugs being used by fewer than 10,000 patients in 2017,” the report reads.
Eight of the new drugs launched in 2017 were pills, including new drugs to treat breast cancer, lung cancer, some types of leukemia and ovarian cancer.
Two new therapies approved in 2017 are called chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies (CAR-T) and involve removing a patient’s immune cells to genetically re-engineer them. One of the treatments, called tisagenlecleucel, treats a type of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and costs $475,000 and one called axicabtagene ciloleucel treats a precursor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and costs $373,000.
None of the new drugs is a home run. The CAR-T therapies are too new to be able to report long-term rates but for tisagenlecleucel, 76 percent of patients were still alive after a year and for axicabtagene, more than 80 percent of patients were helped to some degree for 15 months.

New health board aims to break ‘cycle of panic and neglect’ on pandemics

by , in

The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) brings together political leaders, heads of United Nations agencies and health experts to strengthen global health security through stringent independent monitoring and regular reporting. It was launched on Thursday in Geneva by the World Health Organization(WHO) and the World Bank Group.
Dr. Jim Yong, World Bank Group president, said the Board’s work will help save lives and prevent economic losses.
“For too long, we have allowed a cycle of panic and neglect when it comes to pandemics: we ramp up efforts when there’s a serious threat, then quickly forget about them when the threat subsides,” Dr. Kim said in a press release announcing the initiative.
“With the GPMB, we’re taking a large step towards breaking that cycle.”
The Board will monitor emergency preparedness across national governments, UN agencies, civil society and the private sector.
It will report annually on whether financing is adequate, as well as progress on relevant research and development; and the strength of health crisis-preparedness at the global, regional and national levels.
The Board will be co-chaired by Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, a former Prime Minister of Norway who also served as WHO Director-General from 1998-2003, and Mr Elhadj As Sy, Secretary General of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Dr. Brundtland said the current Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo—a reminder of the deadly West African outbreak four years ago—shows that preparation for such crises “has never been clearer.”
She added that the Board “will hold all actors, from private and public sectors, accountable for building essential public health capacities, generating sustainable financing and ensuring that necessary research and development is conducted.”
