An acid attack victim has bravely shown off the severe burns she suffered in an ambush inside her own apartment building. Afiya Begum was left with burns to her face, shoulder and neck from the attack outside her home in Acocks Green, Birmingham.

The 26-year-old said she is still suffering from blurred vision a month after the attack on April 8, suspected to have been carried out by a schoolboy. Police have not been able to locate her attacker, who is thought to be aged between 14 and 16. Afiya said: ‘I went across the road to the petrol station and I think the person who attacked me was watching.

‘When I was crossing the road I saw someone get out of a car but didn’t think anything of it. ‘I was on the phone when I came back into the building. Then a man tapped me on the shoulder and I screamed and dropped my phone onto the floor.

‘Then he threw a whole glass of acid at me.’ Afiya was able to catch the bottle – but some of the contents splashed up and hit her in the face. As she screamed for help, the boy swiped her phone off the floor and ran away.

Afiya said: ‘I made it onto the second floor where my friend was and he splashed water onto me. ‘He drove me to the hospital because the paramedics were taking too long and my life was in danger.

‘I was not breathing and my eyes were closing up.’ She stayed at an eye unit at City Hospital for a week as medics were so worried about her vision. Afiya was later told the substance used was hydrochloric acid – a strong, corrosive mineral acid often used in industry.

A spokeswoman from West Midlands Police said: ‘Police are investigating an attack in which a bottle of an acidic substance was thrown at a woman in Acocks Green on 8 April. ‘The woman, who is in her 20s, was walking near to Lidl in Fox Hollies Road, at around 11.40pm, when a teenage boy got out of a medium sized black vehicle nearby. ‘The boy, who was between 14 and 16 years of age, threw a glass bottle towards her. The woman caught the bottle and some of its contents splashed onto her eyes and face.

‘She then threw the bottle back at the youth, who ran off. ‘The woman has been discharged from hospital and is recovering from her injuries, but the incident has left her very traumatised.’ Anyone with information should contact West Midlands Police on 101 and ask for Force CID at Stechford Police Station, giving crime reference 20BE/78080B/18.

She’s the only one of the Kardashian sisters not to have joined the mummy club. But it seems that Kendall Jenner is still struggling to get her head around becoming an aunt, as she’s revealed it’s a little ‘weird’ to accept her little sister is a parent before her. 

‘It’s obviously a bit weird that your little sister is having a baby before you. 

I didn’t expect it to happen like this,’ explained the 22-year-old model. 

Though she also added it’s ‘beautiful’ to see the way Kylie, 20, is with little Stormi.

That said she thinks that motherhood has been good for her little sister – Caitlyn and Kriss Jenner’s other daughter – explaining that the whole process has helped soften her and bring the siblings closer. 

‘It’s brought us closer together,’ Kendall told Elle US during a chat with Lana Del Ray. ‘We’ve always been very close, but we would butt heads all the time. 

This has made her a bit more loving toward me.’ That said she’s also finding her own step in life, and has been frank about how she has learned to live with her anxiety.

Two things that have helped her to cope might not necesarilly go hand-in-hand, but Canadian stoner comedy and a chilled-out healer appear to be her recipe for success.

‘When I’m about to fall asleep, I’ll put on Trailer Park Boys. 

I love it; it’s so stupid,’ she explained, before adding a friend has a healer who ‘just hangs out at the house for good energy. 

I got such an amazing vibe from him. I was like, You need to be around me now.’

Consent is an important thing to get the hang of in many different situations. 

One situation that many of us never thought we’d need consent in, though, is when changing a baby’s nappy.

However, a sexuality expert has claimed that we should be asking babies for their permission when changing them, in order to forge good communication habits in later life.

Sexuality educator, author, and speaker Deanne Carson was on ABC News speaking about her work. 

There, she said to the newsreader that she works ‘with children from three years old’ and ‘with parents from birth’. 

It may sound completely crazy, but Deanne does note that she doesn’t expect a baby to reply to this request, and it’s more about fostering a lifestyle where a child’s opinion and answers to questions like this matter in the home.

As expected, it’s started quite the conversation online. @MarkJC1463 said, ‘What next. Getting your dogs permission to take them out for a walk’, @ToppaCa said, ‘Stop the world I want to get off’, and @jogehudsmigos ‘How long do you allow a baby to wallow in their own filth if they decline?’ 

Basically, it’s not gone down too well for Deanne. 

It’s important that this debate has been started, though, since we’re all more conscious than ever about how we can educate our children on consent.

Donald Trump has announced the date of his meeting with Kim Jong-un. 

The first ever summit between a sitting US president and North Korean leader will take place in Singapore on Tuesday June 12, Trump said.

Announcing the date of the summit on Twitter, he said: ‘We will both try to make it a very special moment for world peace!’ They are expected to discuss North Korea’s highly controversial nuclear weapons programme. 

The historic meeting was unthinkable as recently as last year.

Tensions between the countries grew as Trump and Kim traded insults, with Trump branding his adversary ‘rocket man’ and Kim describing the president as a ‘dotard’. 

However, tensions have cooled significantly in recent months.

North Korea’s isolated regime sent athletes to South Korea to compete in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, which was also attended by Kim’s sister. 

The dictator has met with South Korean officials including President Moon Jae-in, and this week North Korea changed its time zone by half an hour to align with the south. 

Trump previously said he favoured a meeting in the demilitarised zone between North and South Korea.

However, many of his advisers believed Singapore was a better choice. 

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo returned from a trip to North Korea this week with three Americans that had been held captive under Kim’s regime.

On their return to America, Trump said he believes Kim wants to bring North Korea ‘into the real world’ and had high hopes for the meeting. 

He said: ‘I think we have a very good chance of doing something very meaningful. 

‘My proudest achievement will be – this is part of it – when we denuclearise that entire peninsula.’

A $150,000 diamond chain that belongs to Cardi B's fiancé, rapper Offset was stolen from his hotel room in NYC after the MET Gala. Read TMZ's report below.

Offset's neck is a little lighter today and he ain't happy about it. According to law enforcement sources, the chain was stolen sometime Tuesday evening from Offset's room at a lower East side hotel.

The jewelry was last seen on a coffee table in the room. No arrests have been made yet and the Police are checking surveillance cameras at the hotel to see if they can spot the suspect.

Offset didn't noticve it was missing until he flew out to Atlanta hours later.

Miranda Kerr gave birth on Monday to a little boy ... 

The baby's name is Hart. Miranda's doctors delivered him at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. around 11:50 PM.

This is the first child for Kerr and her Snapchat co-founder hubby, Evan Spiegel. They got married in May 2017. Miranda has a 7-year-old son with her ex, Orlando Bloom.

As for Hart's name ... it appears he's named after Evan's grandfather, who was a prominent San Francisco attorney.

There were multiple reports they were expecting a little girl, but there ya go ... can't believe everything ya read.

John McEnroe says Donald Trump offered him $1,000,000 to play a tennis match against Serena or Venus Williams ... but he shot it down. 

"I was calling a match and suddenly I get this envelope and it's from Donald Trump," McEnroe said on "In Depth with Graham Bensinger."

McEnroe didn't specify WHEN Trump sent the envelope -- only noting it was before he became President.  

So, why'd John turn it down?

Chris Brown has just been sued by a woman who claims she was raped at his home, in what prosecuting attorney Gloria Allred calls "one of the most horrific sexual assault cases" she has ever seen.

In the suit, Jane Doe claims she was invited to a party at Brown's house in February 2017 where he supplied cocaine, molly, and marijuana. Doe alleges that after her phone had been taken away, an unnamed female friend of Brown's forced her and a few other women into a bedroom and blocked the door with a couch.

Once inside, Brown's female friend allegedly forced the women to hook up with the hip-hop star and another man named Lowell Grissom. Doe claims she tried to leave, but Brown's female friend grabbed her by the throat and forced her to perform fellatio on Grissom.

Doe says the female friend then pushed her down on the bed and "literally sat on [Doe's] face, using her legs to pin [Doe] down while forcing [Doe] to perform oral sex on her" — all while the woman was allegedly menstruating.

Doe claims she went to the bathroom after and saw her face covered in blood. She claims that Grissom then entered the restroom while she was showering; she tried to leave, but he allegedly shoved her onto the bed and raped her.

The alleged victim, who is being represented by Allred, claimed that later, Grissom held her against a washing machine and raped her again.

She claims she went to a rape treatment center and reported the incident to police.

Ora, who is set to release a second album later this year, is 11th in the list of wealthiest young musicians.

The Fifty Shades Freed actress has enjoyed lucrative deals with the likes of Adidas and DKNY.

Her wealth increased by £15 million last year.

Zayn Malik is the only member or ex-member of One Direction not to have increased their wealth in the past year – although he is still worth an eye-watering £35 million.

Robert Watts, compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List, said younger musicians would soon eclipse the veterans, despite not having been on the music scene for long.

“For years our music millionaires list has been dominated by older acts, such as the Rolling Stones and Sir Elton John, who have older audiences able to pay a premium to see their favourite acts,” he said.

“But some of the biggest risers over the past year have been amongst younger acts such as Ed Sheeran, Adele and Calvin Harris.

“Streaming services, the internet and income from endorsements are helping today’s young musicians build an international following – and with it their fortunes – far quicker than the older rockers.

“We think it won’t be long before some of these relative newcomers will surpass the wealth racked up by rock legends who in some cases have been on stage for nearly half a century.”
