Emotional moment Alice Marie Johnson runs into arms of family after Trump ends life sentence

Alice Marie Johnson, A grandmother threw her arms open and ran towards her family in an emotional reunion as she was freed from jail after more than 20 years in prison.

Alice Marie Johnson’s life sentence was commuted by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday a week after meeting with Kim Kardashian about the cause.

The reality star tweeted: ‘BEST NEWS EVER!!!!’ after hearing about the release of Johnson, 63, who had spent more than two decades behind bars on a life without parole sentence for a first time drug offence.

She was released hours after the White House announcement and ran into her family members’ arms.

Michael Scholl, a member of Johnson’s legal team, said she was released just before 6pm local time from federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama.

Footage from local news station WVTM-13 showed Johnson running toward her family, throwing her arms wide-open and embracing them in front of a crowd of onlookers. ‘Everybody was crying and hugging,’ Scholl said.

Moments after her release, Johsnon called Kardashian an ‘angel’ and said: ‘I’m just so thankful. I feel like my life is starting over again.’ She also thanked Trump ‘for giving me another chance at life and restoring me to my family’.

Unlike a pardon, the commutation will not erase Johnson’s conviction, only end her sentence.

In a statement announcing the president’s decision, the White House said Johnson ‘has accepted responsibility for her past behavior’ and had been a model prisoner, working hard to rehabilitate herself and serve as a mentor to fellow inmates.

‘While this Administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance,’ said a statement from the office of White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Attorney Brittany K. Barnett, another member of Johnson’s legal team, said she felt like she had been ‘resurrected from the dead’. Johnson was convicted in 1996 on eight criminal counts related to a Memphis-based cocaine trafficking operation involving more than a dozen people.

The 1994 indictment describes dozens of deliveries and drug transactions, many involving Johnson.

Federal courts including the Supreme Court rejected her appeals. Court records show she had a motion pending for a reduction in her sentence, but prosecutors were opposed, saying the sentence was in accord with federal guidelines based on the large quantity of drugs involved.

Her clemency had also been rejected by President Barack Obama, who commuted the sentences of hundreds of federal inmates convicted of drug crimes.

Kardashian visited the White House last month to meet with Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, who is overseeing an overhaul of the US prison system.

She also met with Trump in the Oval Office, a photograph of which the president posted on Twitter.

Shawn Holley, Kardashian’s attorney who accompanied her to the White House last week, said the reality star was the one who broke the news to Johnson. ‘Once Alice’s family joined the call, the tears never stopped flowing,’ Holley said in a statement.

The album is due for release sometime this year but there are no further details available.

Last year, Iggy Azalea released a single with Anitta titled “Switch” and then earlier this year she released “Savior” featuring Quavo which will appear on the new album Surviving the Summer.

Mavado Teenage Son Arrested Singer Fled The Island

Mavado’s teenage son was arrested at the singer’s mansion yesterday.

Mavado is currently wanted for questioning by the Constant Spring police over an increase in violence in Cassava Piece. Law enforcement sources told Urban Islandz that they want to question the singer in relation to a killing of a young man in Cassava Piece earlier this week. We’re told that the man was shot dead and chopped before his body was light on fire by his killers.

On Tuesday, a swarm of police officers converged on Mavado’s mansion in Norbrook and take his 16-year-son, Dantay Brooks, and other members of his family, including his cousin Chase Cross, into custody. The dead man has been identified as Lorenza Thomas, 23, popularly known in the community as Israel. His killing is believed to be a reprisal following the shooting incident involving Mavado on Saturday.

Thomas is only the second person to be killed over the past few days. Within hours after the Mavado shooting incident, a man name Ian Robinson, also known as Gaza Man, was shot and killed outside the Constant Spring market in Kingston. Gaza Man is believed to be an associate of Mavado who was involved in a physical confrontation with a man in Cassava Piece who later shot at him.

Mavado’s brother and cousin are also in police custody but are yet to be charged with a crime. On Tuesday, the Jamaica Constabulary Force issued a bulletin for the dancehall entertainer to turn himself into police by midday today. Police sources told us that he left the island yesterday and his whereabouts are not known.

Mavado has been living in Florida most of the time these days and is currently a U.S. resident. There is no word yet if he will be flying back to Jamaica to meet with cops, however, his attorney is aware of the situation.

Cops have not indicated if Mavado will be charged for any crimes, but they say they want to talk to him because they believe that he can help them in their investigation of the killing of Lorenza Thomas. We’re told that a warrant is now out for his arrest after missing the deadline. Mavado will be performing in West Palm Beach for a show with Trina this weekend.

New Spanish pro-EU govt to be dominated by women

Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s new pro-EU government will be sworn in on Thursday with the most women in Spain’s modern history, with 11 female and six male ministers, AFP reports.

The government composed by the 46-year-old, who ousted conservative veteran Mariano Rajoy as prime minister last Friday in a no-confidence vote, includes EU budget manager Nadia Calvino as economy minister and former European Parliament President Josep Borrell as foreign minister.

Anti-terror prosecutor Dolores Delgado will be justice minister, former Supreme Court judge Margarita Robles defense minister, and other women have been put in charge of education, employment, and health. Sanchez said his government was “a reflection of the best in society.”

The cabinet is also a minority government, as the Socialists only have 84 lawmakers in the 350-seat parliament.

Nightclub Owner Peter Stringfellow dead aged 77 after battling with cancer

Nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow has died at the age of 77, following a battle with lung cancer.

A spokesperson confirmed that the businessman – known as the King of Clubs – died in the early hours of Thursday morning (June 7). He leaves behind a wife, Bella, and four children.

His publicist Matt Glass said: "It's very sad news. He passed away in the early hours of this morning. It was kept very private, he didn't want to tell."

Stringfellow had treatment for lung cancer after being diagnosed in 2008. He kept his diagnosis private, though it was leaked in 2015.

He opened his famous club, Stringfellows, in Covent Garden in 1980. He went on to launch venues in Miami, Beverly Hills and Paris.

"I went to a strip club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the '80s and loved it," he said. "I then immediately opened up Stringfellows New York and it became a great success as I changed it to a strip club."

Calum Best, Frank Bruno, Boy George and Tony Blackburn are among those paying tribute to Stringfellow on Twitter.

Best wrote: "RIP Peter Stringfellow, so many amazing memories I have with this man , from when I first came to UK and he took care of me for years in his club to staying with him and his family in Spain . Rest in peace friend, my thoughts r with ur family. No doubt a legacy will live on."

Bruno shared: "RIP Peter Stringfellow, I met this man a few times over the years. A great guy & king of the discos. My thoughts are with his family."

Blac Chyna Boyfriend YBN Almight Jay Got Robbed of His Chain

Blac Chyna’s boyfriend YBN Almight Jay got robbed in California on Wednesday and his chain was taken.

YBN Almight Jay posted a video of himself showing the scars that he received during a robbery incident yesterday in Fairfax, California. The 19-year-old rapper seemed unfazed by the robbery and demanded that his assailants post the chain that they took from him on the internet. In the video, he showed his fingers with blood dripping from them and yelled, “whoever just took my chain on Fairfax, post it, ni**as hoes, post my sh*t.”

YBN Almighty Jay also revealed that the guys who robbed him of his chain had guns but seems no shot was fired during the incident. Still, it didn’t take long for his assailants to post the chain that they took from him on social media. The guys even showed their faces while daring YBN Almighty to, “come get your sh*t back.”

We’ve scoured the internet and there are no video yet of the robbery, but it’s pretty clear something went down and YBN Almighty Jay is not happy about it. However, in the age of smartphones we know somebody out there got a video of it and will post in on social media very soon, just like the infamous Blac Chyna fight at Six Flags.

Pusha T Says He Would’ve End Drake If He Had Responded

Pusha T is now saying that he wished Drake had responded because he was ready to end his career.

It’s safe to say that the Pusha T and Drake beef is officially dead but some fans are still holding their breath hoping that Drizzy will come back with some fire. Still, it’s highly unlikely that the man from Toronto will respond to “The Story Of Adidon” and those of us hardened rap fans still thinks that he need to come back with a response merely because he had already stepped into the ring with “Duppy Freestyle.”

Pusha T has been doing a lot of interviews these days to promote his new album and talk about his beef with Drake. In an excerpt from an upcoming interview he did, King Push spoke about J Prince claim that Drake has a career-ending diss track for him and Kanye West.

The G.O.O.D. Music rapper is saying that he wished Drake would’ve dropped the track so that he could end his career. “Listen man I wish he would because nobody don’t think am not prepared for this,” he said. “This would for be a career-ending moment in hip hop but that ain’t going to be my career. This is what I live for, drop that track and see what happens.”

Drake himself has not weighed in on what J Prince said last weekend but he made a comment on Twitter that pretty much just have us all wondering what is going on in his mind. “Nobody really know what I been through,” he wrote in the comment section of a post made by another rapper.

During an interview last week on The Breakfast Club, Pusha T says he has been doing his research and has a lot more content to use in case he has to release another diss track. “I am not censoring myself that’s just more content for if it’s needed later,” he said.

Pusha T new album Daytona is now out and Drake is getting ready to unleash his new album Scorpion on the airwaves. So now the battle will be who can sell the most records. Given the history, Drizzy is already the favorite to win that. Daytona sold 77,000 album equivalent units in the first week.
