Ariana Grande Takes Over 'The Tonight Show' as She Dishes On New Album 'Sweetener'

by , in

Ariana Grande performs with Kygo onstage during the 2018 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Field on April 20, 2018 in Indio, California.

After several memorable appearances and one notable Christina Aguileramusical impression, The Tonight Showdevoted an entire episode to show favorite Ariana Grande on Tuesday.
Grande revealed her forthcoming album is called Sweetener, and it's "coming this summer." Pharrell contributed to the album which features songs “R.E.M.,” “The Light Is Coming,” “God Is a Woman” and the intro, “Raindrops."
"It’s kind of about bringing light to a situation or to someone’s life or somebody else brings life to your life. Sweetening the situation," Grande said of the new set, the followup to 2016's Dangerous Woman. In support of the album, Grande promised to do something "special" every 20th. First up: a performance at the Billboard Music Awards. "There's only like three 20ths until the big thing," she revealed, which would give Sweetener a potential release date of Friday, July 20.
The pop star also performed her new single "No Tears Left to Cry," her first release since the May 2017 bombing at her Manchester Arena concert, in the song's broadcast debut. Since the attacks, Grande orchestrated the One Love Manchester benefit concert, which raised funds for the victims and families of the May 22 attack, and has become an honorary citizen of Manchester.

In a pre-taped segment, Grande surprised fans singing her song "One Last Time" for what they believed was a fan video. One dropped to his knees, and Grande complimented another's use of different melodies than her own song.
Next, Fallon introduced a sketch in which he played a host of a show called NBD and Grande played a guest called Cassandra, both using exaggerated Valley Girl accents and vocal fry. They name-dropped Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Timothee Chalamet, who Grande said she had seen at Au Bon Pain. The conversation then turned to France: "I actually go to Paris every other weekend, I actually pet-sit for Katy Perry. It's called Katy Paris, get it," Grande said.
When discussing the royal wedding, Fallon mentioned that he just got his 23andMe results and learned he was "280th in line for the throne" and also found out he was prone to anemia. Their final talking point was Kentucky Derby hats: Jimmy Fallon said his was made from llama hair, by llamas, and that all the proceeds went back to the llamas; Grande said hers was designed by Elon Musk and was a drone that hovered over her head.
Later on, Grande and Fallon played a round of "Musical Genre Challenge" in which they sang popular songs in different musical stylings, including Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" as a goth rock tune and Usher's "Yeah" in the vein of country.

Grande closed the show with a performance of "No Tears Left to Cry."

The singer first debuted the single live in a surprise appearance at Coachella.
thanks to my bff @jimmyfallon for letting me co host the show tonight and perform No Tears for the first time on tv💧you’re my favorite always and forever ! tune in ♡

Another showed them walking along an idyllic beach in the sun.
Khloe Kardashian’s sister also shared an adorable name of her little girl dressed in a dusky pink outfit.
The couple were facing split rumours while expecting their daughter, but it seems like those have passed since welcoming the little one.
Kylie Jenner rarely shares pictures with her baby daddy Travis Scott
A source who told People: "Kylie and Travis are doing great. Stormi has definitely brought them closer."
"Kylie seems very happy with Travis. They are a great little family,” they added.
Kim Kardashian’s sister recently revealed where the inspiration behind the name Stormi came from.
Kylie Jenner shared a cute picture of Stormi Webster
I really don’t know how we thought of Storm. Her dad insisted it was him, but I feel like it was me,” she told the Evening Standard magazine.
“And that kind of just stuck with us. And then I didn’t really like just Storm — I didn’t feel like that was her name.
“So then it became Stormi. And it just stuck. I feel like there were a lot of other names that I might have even liked better to be honest, but I feel like Stormi picked her own name, like it was just her name.”

Doctor: Trump Dictated Letter Attesting To His 'Extraordinary' Health

by , in

In Dec. 2015, Donald Trump's personal physician released a letter describing his patient's health in language that sounded more like it was written by the patient himself than the doctor – and it turns out that might be exactly what happened.
"If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency," Dr. Harold Bornstein, a gastroenterologist from Lenox Hospital in New York, wrote at the time.
The letter said that a recent medical exam showed "only positive results" for the candidate and that "His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary."
As NPR's Jessica Taylor reported at the time: "The full letter is written in true Trumpian fashion, full of hyperbole and boasting of greatness. Bornstein calls Trump's blood pressure 'astonishingly excellent.'"
However, Bornstein now tells CNN that Trump was the one who wrote it after all.
"He dictated that whole letter. I didn't write that letter," Bornstein told CNN on Tuesday. "I just made it up as I went along."
Trump, who was 70 when he assumed office, is the oldest person ever to be elected president.
Bornstein's admission comes as also he tells NBC that a long-time personal bodyguard for Trump, along with a top lawyer at the Trump Organization and a third man, conducted a "raid" on his office on Feb. 3, 2017 in which they seized the president's medical records.
Bornstein told the network: "They must have been here for 25 minutes or 30 minutes. It created a lot of chaos." He said he felt "raped, frightened and sad."
That incident in 2017 occurred just days after The New York Times published a story based on interviews with Bornstein, who told the newspaper that the president takes a prostrate-related drug to treat baldness, known as Propecia, as well as other "antibiotics to control rosacea, a common skin problem, and a statin for elevated blood cholesterol and lipids."
The administration on Tuesday denied that the visit to Bornstein's office last year was anything out of the ordinary.
Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, called it "standard operating procedure" to obtain a newly elected president's medical records.
"That was what was taking place, is those records were being transferred over to the White House medical unit, as requested," she said.

David De Gea wins Manchester United 'Player of the Year' award

by , in

David De Gea has become the first player in Manchester United's history to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award four times, after receiving the accolade on Tuesday night. The goalkeeper also received the club's Players' Player of the Year award.

The elated goalkeeper thanked his teammates, and stated his aim to win the FA Cup saying "I think it is special to receive this award from my teammates, I love all of them. We are fighting for second place and we are in the [FA Cup] final, but we are Manchester United so it is not enough. We have to improve for next season. Of course it’s good to finish the season with a trophy, especially with Wembley and the fans."
The Spanish international won the award in three consecutive seasons between 2013 and 2016, thus tying with previous record holder Cristiano Ronaldo but was pipped to the award by fellow Spaniard Ander Herrera last season.

The 27-year-old has kept an impressive 17 Premier League clean sheets this season, making 110 saves in 35 league appearances. Astoundingly, half of the saves that David De Gea has made this season have been from shots within the penalty area

Pete Rose owes more than $1 MILLION to the IRS ... but you wouldn't know it by looking at his car -- 'cause the ex-MLB star is still pushing a very expensive Rolls-Royce!
TMZ Sports has obtained pics of Rose's Rolls-Royce Wraith -- a car that usually costs about $300,000!
And to make sure people know it's HIS car, Pete got a custom license plate bearing his nickname, "Hit King."
Remember, Rose has admitted in court docs he fell WAY behind in federal taxes and is working to repay Uncle Sam the 7-figure debt he's racked up over the years.
But even debtors gotta BALL OUT IN VEGAS, right?!
Rose's estranged wife claims Pete makes $100k per month -- but Pete has refuted that claim and says he only makes $54k per month.

Floyd Mayweather Gets VIP Caravan Through Dubai Mall

by , in

When you've just dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars at the Dubai Mall ... you don't have to WALK from store to store, you get DRIVEN -- just ask Floyd Mayweather.
The 41-year-old boxer and his massive entourage were spotted in a two-car caravan -- complete with chauffeurs -- being driven through the upscale mall with TMT bodyguards and a couple of bellhops in tow.
In fact, the bellhop carts were packed to the brim with shopping bags -- and knowing Floyd, the dude dropped a fortune.
Mayweather loves to vacation in Dubai and tends to spend a TON of money when he visits. Back in 2015, he dropped just over $1 MILLION on a diamond watch during a $1.5 million shopping spree.

So, yeah ... that's why he gets VIP treatment.

Champions League: Did Bayern Munich goalie Sven Ulreich commit biggest blunder in Champions League history?

by , in

Bayern Munich's Sven Ulreich committed perhaps the worst goalkeeping error in the history of the Champions League on Tuesday, gifting Real Madrid a vital goal in the semifinal second leg between the teams.
With the clash poised at 3-2 to Madrid on aggregate score, Ulreich had a mental meltdown and was guilty of an inexplicably embarrassing blunder.
The howler came just 22 seconds into the second half. Bayern midfielder Corentin Tolisso found himself in trouble on the edge of his own penalty area as Real's attackers pressed, and attempted to pass the ball back to goalkeeper Ulreich.
The pass was under-hit, yet should still have been easily negotiated by Ulreich, who has enjoyed an outstanding season for the German side. However, Ulreich started towards the ball appearing as if he was going to pick it up, before seemingly realizing that to do so would be an infraction as an illegal back pass.
Instead, he swung a leg wildly, while slipping to the turf, as the ball trickled past him and toward the empty goal. Madrid forward Karim Benzema needed no encouragement to pounce and comfortably score as Ulreich was left in disbelief.
The bizarre goal did not end Bayern's resistance, though, with the visitors scoring soon after thanks to James Rodriguez, leaving them needing just one more goal to book a place in the final

#MeToo Founder Tarana Burke Responds To R. Kelly

by , in

Activists have been trying since last summer to get the music industry to sever its ties to R&B singer R. Kelly, following years of allegations from women who say the singer sexually and emotionally abused them.
Over the past year, families of several women have come forward accusing him of keeping their loved ones as sex slaves; just two weeks ago, the attorney of one woman presented evidence to the Dallas County district attorney's office in the hopes of generating an indictment.
Jerhonda Pace, who met the singer when she was 15 and is now in her twenties, described her experiences on the talk show The Real last September. "He would slap you in your face, and he would physically like harm you," Pace said. "He would put you in a room, and he would lock you in the room for days."
In response to the allegations, an online campaign called #MuteRKelly launched last year. It has gained widespread visibility since Time's Up publicly joined in on Monday, supported by several influential women in entertainment — including director Ava DuVernay, television producer and writer Shonda Rhimes and actress Lupita Nyong'o.
Another advocate is Tarana Burke, an activist and the founder of the Me Too movement.
"What we are looking for, in our community and out," Burke says, "is some accountability from the corporations that support this person who has a 24-year history of sexual violence perpetrated against black and brown girls around the country."
In yesterday's statement, R. Kelly's management called the Time's Up letter an "attempted public lynching," and noted, "Since America was born, black men and women have been lynched for having sex or for being accused of it."
Tarana Burke says that using the word "lynching" is wrong.
"This is not a lynching," she says. "You know, we are only a week out of the national monument to lynching being opened in Montgomery, Ala. and the history, and the reality of lynching in America is so, so painful and so real. This is not a public lynching. This is a call for public accountability."
"So what we've seen in the last six months," Burke continues, "is a wave of accountability happen where corporations have stepped away from men, even if in the short term, to have authentic investigations into allegations. We have seen 24 years of allegations leveled against R. Kelly, and he has gone unscathed. So what the letter does is join the #MuteRKelly campaign, that was well on its way already, and joined the chorus of black women around the country who have been saying we want some accountability. Those things have to be interrogated. And I think at the very least we need to see corporations step away from them until we have satisfactory investigation into these allegations."
An R. Kelly concert last Saturday in Chicago was cancelled by promoters. His next scheduled show is next week in Greensboro, North Carolina. The venue where Kelly is expected to perform, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, was one of the companies and venues named in the Time's Up letter, along with RCA Records, Spotify, Apple Music and Ticketmaster.

Ashley Judd Is Taking Harvey Weinstein to Court for Sexual Harassment

by , in

Ashley Judd  who alleges that Harvey Weinstein behaved inappropriately toward her in the mid-1990s — is suing the disgraced producer Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The two-time Golden Globe nominee is seeking damages for sexual harassment and defamation, also contending that Weinstein violated California’s Unfair Competition Law. Any winnings would be donated to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, Judd said in a statement.
Once Judd had been cast in Miramax’s 1995 film, “Smoke,” she was summoned to a breakfast meeting with its co-founder, Weinstein, at the Peninsula Beverly Hills. She was directed to his room, where he awaited her dressed in a bathrobe, seeking a massage or a shower audience. Although Judd declined, she did appear in “Smoke” and a second Miramax feature, “Kiss the Girls.”
The actress first recounted the incident to Variety in October 2015, omitting Weinstein’s name. Two years later, she became the first film star to go on record with New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, who shared Pulitzer Prizes with The New Yorker‘s Ronan Farrow for their investigations into Weinstein’s purported sexual misconduct.
IndieWire has reached out to Weinstein’s representative for comment.
This December, Peter Jackson revealed in an interview that he cut Judd from a list of actors under consideration for his sweeping “Lord of the Rings” trilogy after Weinstein said she was a “nightmare” colleague. “In hindsight, I realize that this was very likely the Miramax smear campaign in full swing,” Jackson said.
“Weinstein’s wrongful and outrageous conduct has not just deprived Ms. Judd of the specific opportunity to play a prominent role in a blockbuster film trilogy; it has had a long-lasting ripple effect on her whole career,” reads Judd’s complaint.
Judd was featured on the Time magazine’s 2017 “Person of the Year” cover, as one of “the silence breakers” who galvanized the #MeToo movement.
Los Angeles County Superior Court is also where an anonymous actress sued Weinstein for sexual assault and battery in November 2017. Gloria Allred is representing the client, who claims Weinstein mistreated her in 2015 and 2016. Six more alleged victims — Louisette Geiss, Katherine Kendall, Zoe Brock, Sarah Ann Masse, Melissa Sagemiller, and Nannette Klatt — filed a class-action racketeering lawsuit against Weinstein; his brother and former business partner, Bob; and the studios they led together, Miramax and the Weinstein Company. A new owner for the latter is expected to emerge at a May 4 bankruptcy auction.

Are the Las Vegas Golden Knights already the greatest expansion team ever?

by , in

Few expansion teams in sports history have had the immediate success of the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

However, when it comes to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, it cannot be overstated just how absurd their run has been as an expansion team.
On Monday night, the Golden Knights took a 2-1 series lead over the San Jose Sharks in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, putting them two wins away from the Western Conference Finals. A conference final berth would be just the latest in a series of "firsts"—like the first expansion team since 1980 to make the playoffs, first true expansion team to win its division in its inaugural season, and first team in NHL history to sweep its first playoff series, knocking out the two-time Stanley Cup champion L.A. Kings. The Knights aren't just a fun, underdog team clawing their way to a potentially historic Stanley Cup berth. They've been dominant from opening night, starting the season 8-1 before finishing with 51 wins, seven more than the next closest team in their division. After starting the season with 200/1 odds to win the Cup, the Golden Knights are now the co-favorites.
Has a team in any of the four major sports had this much success, this quickly? The simple answer is no, because no team has been this good in its inaugural season. Even if Vegas doesn't go on to win the Cup, it still will hold up as the greatest first season for an expansion team ever. For context, we looked back at the inaugural seasons of other expansion franchises that did have early success, but needed a few more years than Vegas to find it.
