Avicii death: Truth behind his final pics exposed after DJ said he 'was going to die'

by , in

AVICII’S death rocked the world of music last week after it was confirmed that the DJ had died at the age of 28. After it was revealed that he had told management he was "going to die” if he kept up his hectic schedule, the truth behind the Swedish superstar’s final photos has been exposed.

Avicii died aged 28 in Oman last Friday, his press contact confirmed.
The last pictures of the Wake Me Up hitmaker showed him relaxing with fans at the Muscat Hills Resort in Oman where he had been staying before he passed away.
Body language expert Judi James, who has appeared on the likes of Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, analysed the images, saying: “There are no obvious signs of potential tragedy in these poses, although Avicii does look gaunt and slightly frail.
“His smile bares his teeth but the tightness of his lips suggests it’s a bashful and polite social smile rather than a carefree one,” she told the Daily Star.
Judi also said that Avicii appeared open and un-guarded in the last pictures before his death.
“His eyes look focused and communicative,” she said. “And although he’s at the back of the pose, he’s embracing the others with an arm-splaying hug that shows no desire to form self-protective barriers.”
The snaps were posted by the resort just days before the tragic news broke.
Sharing them with their 4,900 followers, saying: “Thank you @avicii for coming to the Muscat Hills Resort.
“We hope you had a great time!”
One shot showed the EDM star posing with a blonde fan, who also shared it with her own 1,600 followers.
Following his death, she also shared a selfie of the pair together, saying: “RIP @avicii, can’t believe I got to meet you in Muscat just six days ago, far too young to go.”

Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, could be seen breaming broadly for the camera looking cheerful as he posed with the fan.
He previously admitted to battling anxiety and alcohol problems and retried from performing live in 2014, citing health reasons.
The year before, he had been hospitalised with a “searing pain” in his abdomen while on tour.
Avicii also suffered with acute pancreatitis and had both his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014.
The cause of death has not yet been reported, but an Oman police source told AFP that there was "no criminal suspicion".
In a documentary on the musician, Avicii: True Stories, he claimed he had told his management team that he needed to stop his gruelling schedule of touring before it killed him.
Speaking to his friend and filmmaker Levan Tsikurishvili, he explained: “I have said, ‘Like, I’m going to die.’ I have said it so many times.
“And so I don’t want to hear that I should entertain the thought of doing another gig.”
The Hey Brother producer said that he didn’t get the support he had hoped for when stepping down from live performance.
“When I decided to stop,” I expected something completely different,” he said. “I expected support, particularly considering everything I have been through.
“I have been very open with everyone I work with, and everyone who knows me.
“Everyone knows that I’ve had anxiety and that I have tried,” he continued. “I did not expect that people would try to pressure me into doing more gigs.”

Meek Mill Has Been Released From Prison on Bail

by , in

Meek Mill was granted bail on Tuesday following the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s order that the rapper be released from prison.
Last week, Philadelphia’s district attorney’s office argued that Mill’s 2008 conviction on drug and firearm charges should be overturned, and questioned the credibility of his arresting officer.
Mill said in a statement on Tuesday:
“Although I’m blessed to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that many people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career.”
Michael Rubin, co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and one of Meek’s longtime friends, told Page Six that the rapper is attending the team’s game on Tuesday night. Rubin has admirable follow-through.

CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE FIRES BACK AT FOLKS WHO CRITICISED HER FOR INTERROGATING HILLARY CLINTON

by , in

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has fired back at folks who called her out for asking Hillary Clinton why her Twitter bio begins with ‘wife’.
Ms. Clinton responded thoughtfully, but many people had a problem with Adichie for ‘daring’ to ask that question.
Now, the Nigerian writer has spoken up amidst the intense criticism, in a detailed Facebook post addressed specifically to an unnamed person who had unkind things to say about her.
“Dear Unnamed Person Who I Am Told Is On Social Media Saying I am Her Family and Telling Me to Shut Up:
Cynicism is ugly. It doesn’t flatter anyone. Yours doesn’t suit you at all.
I remember you vaguely; I think you were in my class in primary school. And now you claim to be my ‘family’ and you are asking me to shut up.
Did you watch the video of the conversation? Did you read a full transcript?
I am tired of Nigerians who read a headline and, without bothering to get details and context, jump on the outrage bandwagon and form lazy, shallow opinions.
I am tired of Nigerians cynically thinking of anybody in public life as a ‘brand.’ No, I am not a brand. I am a person who feels strongly about certain issues. I choose to talk honestly about them. I made the choice to talk about feminism knowing very well the kind of hostility it brings – but I think it’s important and I will continue to speak my truth and hope to bring about some change, no matter how small. Adirom agba egwu ka m data ego.
No, of course you don’t actually deserve a response, but I have some free time today. So I want to make you feel a little important because it sounds like you need it.
And I want to reflect on an absolutely lovely hour spent on stage with Hillary Clinton.
I was happy when I was told that Hillary Clinton had specifically requested to be in conversation with me at the PEN World Voices festival. I am an unapologetic fan of Ms. Clinton’s. I have been for many years.
I felt quite emotional when I met her. Having read and followed her for years, it was moving to see her: the warm, human, observant, present, thoughtful person (and looking wonderful, with her hair and makeup on point!).
She said she had read my books and I restrained myself from doing cartwheels.
“Is there anything you don’t want to talk about?” I asked backstage.
“Ask me anything,” she said.
Towards the end of our conversation, I told her how, having read her writing about her own life, I think she has a great love story with Bill Clinton. A wonderful friendship. I said I feel irritated and protective of her when people dissect her personal life, but I also confessed to having an interest myself, particularly about her public Twitter profile. (I first noticed it when I was researching a piece about her during the presidential campaign). I was upset that the first word used to describe her was ‘wife.’ Was it a choice she had made or was it something done for her campaign and, if it was a choice she had made, did she think my reaction to it was fair?
Her response was very thoughtful.
I was too excited, emotional, slightly nervous, to be on stage with this remarkable woman. Had I kept in mind how easily outrage-mongers would jump on a headline, I would have phrased my question better. I would not have made it about my being upset, because it can come across as navel-gazing.
But the truth is that we were supposed to be having a ‘conversation,’ the context of our conversation was personal and warm, I had made the decision to speak from the heart, and it would be dishonest to pretend that I had not reacted personally to so many issues around Ms. Clinton, whose life has become a kind of crucible of all the questions that affect women.
We all react personally to public figures. And I WAS upset that the Twitter bio of a woman who is the most accomplished person to run for President of the United States, would begin with ‘wife.’ And considering her personal history, it just didn’t seem to fit.
I felt that ‘wife’ was used as an attempt to placate all the men and women who will not vote for a woman unless they are able to see her FIRST in domestic terms.
Yes, it’s just Twitter. But it matters. It’s a public platform. It’s where people go to hear directly from her.
And there is context to consider.
In LIVING HISTORY, Ms.Clinton writes that the two most difficult decisions she has made in her life were staying married to Bill Clinton and running for the senate seat in New York.
Women, especially women in public life, face a lot of societal pressure about how to be, how to live, much more than men do. Women in public life are considered ‘cold’ and ‘un-relatable’ unless they define themselves in domestic terms. Women’s accomplishments are often considered incomplete unless they have also ticked the ‘marriage’ box. These things are not true of men, even though marriage can be a wonderful thing for both men and women.
Feminism is indeed about choice. But it is intellectually lazy to suggest that, since everything is about ‘choice,’ none of these choices can be interrogated. Choices are never made in a vacuum. And sometimes, for women, choices are not always real choices.
After she got married, Ms. Clinton kept her name, but she was so viciously criticized for this that she then took on her husband’s name. Was this a ‘choice?’ Would she have done so if she wasn’t being attacked and if she didn’t want to feel responsible for her husband’s potential losing of votes?
During the last presidential campaign, she was expected to account for the policies of her husband’s administration. She was labeled an enabler of sexual harassment. She was accused of cynically staying married because she wanted to benefit politically.
Much of Ms. Clinton’s public image is a caricature of a person who is untrustworthy, calculated, cold, dishonest. That caricature has its roots in her early public life when she was the First Lady of Arkansas.
Her crime was that she did not conform to the traditional role of First Lady. She had kept her name. She clearly considered herself to be her husband’s equal partner. She did not intend merely to be a Wife. She had her own dreams, her own ambition. She dared to say that she wasn’t planning on ‘staying home and baking cookies,’ which was not about denigrating stay-at-home mothers but simply about saying that that was not what she wanted to do.
A small comment about a small thing, but it was significant and revolutionary because she was consciously resisting the status quo.
But she was attacked for that. Horrendously. And those attacks were repeated so often that they stuck and they contributed to her being reduced to a caricature.
It was therefore upsetting to see her first descriptor as ‘wife.’ The question isn’t about including ‘wife’ in her Twitter bio. The question is about giving ‘wife’ a certain primacy as the first word that describes her, and it speaks to larger questions about the societal expectations placed on women.
Ms. Clinton wrote in her most recent book WHAT HAPPENED, that she ran for president because she thinks she would have been a ‘damned good president.’
She certainly would have been. And so I suggested, half-joking, that ‘Would have been a damned good president’ is a perfect Twitter bio start. And then mother and wife and grandma and Senator and hair icon etc could follow!
I completely stand by my question and by my conviction that it is a subject that matters.
I had a truly enlightening evening on that stage with Ms. Clinton, and was once again awed by her grit, her humanity, her sparkling intelligence.
After the conversation, Ms. Clinton told me, “It was like talking to a friend.” She is now my Aunty For Life.
Oh, as for YOU, Unnamed Person, saying that I am ‘family’ to you, mbakwa biko. The people I consider family don’t ‘do petty.’
Saying “shut up” to a woman who airs an opinion is so unoriginal. Try and be a bit more inventive.
Try reasoning. Try intelligent debate. Try understanding things in context before you reveal your ignorant misogyny to the world. Try reading more than a headline. Try reading a whole book. Or two. And please keep talking. Keep speaking. Don’t ever shut up.

Former Board of Education Member Asks Biracial Harvard Student Whether He Got in on Merit or Quota!

by , in

Roommates, getting into your dream college is an amazing feeling! When Drake Johnson found out he got accepted into Harvard he took to Twitter to share the exciting news. Unfortunately, a former member of the Texas State Board of Educatin threw some light shade at the biracial California Teen by asking him if he was “admitted on merit or on quota.”
Johnson responded, “Thank you! Valedictorian, ASB President, World Champion, good SAT, and a couple handfuls of other involvements, so I would think merit?”
According to Dallas News, Johnson said he didn’t know how to take it when he first saw the tweet. After sitting on it for a minute, instead of going in on George Clayton of Richardson he decided to list his accomplishments!
“I wanted some subtle way to prove him wrong, but not be aggressive,” he said. “I thought that was the best way to civilly defuse the situation and clearly show I was accepted on merit.”
His mom Jeanie Johnson says she has no clue how Clayton even found her son’s tweet in the first place.
“Why do you care, and why are you asking that particular question to a kid who is clearly of some type of mixed race?” she asked. “That is just so frustrating.”
She said her sons response fits his personality.
“He’s this kid who really thinks about what he’s doing and saying,” she said. “He knows how hard he works to get where he’s at. He wants people to understand that that’s why he’s getting what he’s getting, nothing’s nothing’s being handed to him.”

Ellen Degeneres Says That Unjustified Police Killings Of Black Men Make Her ‘Furious’ & ‘Ashamed’ As A White Person

by , in

CNN host VanJones visited the EllenShow on Friday where he discussed unjustified police killings of black men with the daytime talk show host. Ellen felt that Van was the perfect person to discuss it with, because it makes her so upset even to the point where she’s ashamed.
“There have been so many African-American men who have been shot by police and nothing seems to change,” an emotional Ellen said. “I can hardly talk about it without getting emotional. I’m furious. As a white person, I’m ashamed. I see what’s going on and I think how is this possible that this keeps happening? There’s just blatant racism. And it hurts me, it really hurts me.”
Van Jones went on to tell Ellen that he fears for his two sons “every single day” and explained how there’s a double standard when it comes to the way we all treat black kids versus white kids.
“It’s not just the police. We’ve got some malware glitch going on in our brains,” Jones began. “We’ve got this brain glitch that says, if a white kid [does something bad], eh, maybe they need a little help. If a black kid does, we’ve got to punish them.” DeGeneres responded, “I want to say it’s not in my brain. I don’t believe that, I don’t think that, I don’t see myself in that way at all. And it makes me angry.”

by , in

R. Kelly’s daughter Joann Kelly spoke out about her dad’s sex allegations in an interview with TMZ. Although she didn’t want to speak much on the matter, she did admit that she feels terrible about it.
“Overall it’s hard. I try not to speak about it too much but it is what it is,” she said. “I feel terrible.”
She went on to say that it’s all family business. “It’s very close to my heart. It’s just hard because it’s family matters,” she added.
When asked if she has a close relationship with her dad, Joann simply said, “We’re family so we’re going to deal with each other.”
