Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was laid to rest on Saturday following her death aged 81 on April 2 Among the many mourners was Naomi Campbell, who struggled to hold back her rears as she delivered a moving speech during the ceremony in Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg. The model’s tribute after her death was announced lead the way as celebrities flooded social media for the late South African anti-apartheid campaigner, who was married to Nelson Mandela for 40 years. As mourners said a final goodbye to the late civil rights activists a military procession escorted her coffin out of the stadium in the city.

Naomi Campbell, who delivered an emotional speech, was unable to hold back tears at the official funeral. Speaking about her friend, the 47-year-old said: ‘We are lucky to have witnessed her greatness, her courage, her fearlessness and her strength. ‘Let freedom reign, God bless Winnie Mandela.’ Her voice broke down with sadness as she continued: ‘May you rest in the greatness of the kingdom of God, next to the most extraordinary people. I love you. Thank you.’ The state funeral included speeches from her two children and saw military personnel and dignitaries wheel the casket.

The coffin, which was draped in a South African flag, was met by crowds who gathered on the streets ahead of the service to say a final farewell to the late Member of South African Parliament. After the service, she was moved to her final resting place. Winnie was born in September 1936, in Mbongweni, South Africa. After finishing university, she became the first qualified social worker at Johannesburg’s Baragwanath Hospital. Soon after, she met Nelson Mandela at a bus stop in Soweto, when she was 22, and they tied the knot in the summer of 1958.

However, he was later forced underground, after being pursued by apartheid authorities. Most of their marriage was spent apart, with her husband imprisoned for 27 years – with Winnie raising their two daughters alone while trying to keep his political dream alive. Nelson finally walked out of prison in 1990, with his wife firmly by his side. However, the couple separated just two years later, and divorced in 1996.

Throughout the height of apartheid, she remained at the forefront of the battle, urging others to carry on the fight ‘to the bitter end’ – and she later became known as the ‘Mother of the Nation’. She was arrested for the first time while protesting the pass system that restricted movements of black people in white-designated areas. Winnie’s activism and battle to end apartheid was also mired by controversy, and she was frequently linked to ‘necklacing’ – placing a petrol-soaked car tyre around the necks of traitors, and setting it alight. In 1991, she was convicted of kidnapping and assault over the killing of a 14-year-old boy, who was suspected of being a traitor. She vowed she had no part in the murders, when appearing before Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings, and she was later given a fine. Speaking about her past, during a candid interview, she admitted her experiences had ‘hardened’ her.

‘The years of imprisonment hardened me,’ she said. Perhaps if you have been given a moment to hold back and wait for the next blow, your emotions wouldn’t be blunted as they have been in my case. ‘When it happens every day of your life, when that pain becomes a way of life, I no longer have the emotion of fear… there is no longer anything I can fear. ‘There is nothing the government has not done to me. There isn’t any pain I haven’t known.’

Beyonce is set to headline Coachella music festival tonight - but will she be alone?

Fans are absolutely losing it amid rumours that she's going to be reuniting with her former girl group Destiny's Child.

According to reports in the US, Queen Bey will be bringing Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland out on stage with her for an epic performance at the California festival.

Sources say the extra special performance is Beyonce's way of making it up to fans after she was unable to perform last year while she was pregnant with her twins, Sir and Rumi.

The told Page Six : "Beyonce and Destiny’s Child are reuniting. It was teased, rumored, squashed, so nothing much else was said ... But it’s happening."

The source added: "The girls really wanted it and felt they owed it to the fans."

But are fans actually ready for this jelly?

Followers of the mega star have taken to Twitter to express their undying love and excitement at the prospect of a reunion.

One said: "so there's a possibility that Beyoncé might be performing new music today at Coachella AND a Destiny's Child reunion... wig: in critical condition"

Another write: "I heard Beyonce is bringing out Destiny’s Child on stage tomorrow? With that being said, GOODNIGHT! I need my rest before I’m snatched by my hair follicles tomorrow!"

And another said: "So there are rumors of Destiny’s Child reunion happening at Coachella! LaTavia has been dropping a lot of hints lately, so maybe. What if Beyoncé does a “journey to” set?! I’d really die if the first thing we hear is that “Wooh!” from “No, No, No Part 2!”"

"I don't wanna see another Destiny's Child Reunion unless its the original DC4...," one commented.

One excited fan said: "What if Beyoncé drops a new Destiny’s Child Album, Solo Album, & Joint Album w/ Jay Z all at the same time? It would be an award season it’ll BEY AWARD SEASON."

While one joked: "According to several sources close to Beyoncé, she will bring the twins and Blue Ivy out as a tribute act to Destiny’s Child. They will perform for the whole show and leave 5 minutes at the end for Bey to play Halo"

The rapper also revealed he’s writing a philosophy book in a new interview with interior designer Axel Vervoordt

In a new interview with interior designer Axel Vervoordt for The Hollywood Reporter, Kanye West offered up his thoughts on an array of fashion, culture, art and societal topics.

Outspoken as ever, West let slip his plans to release a philosophy book titled Break the Simulation. Confiding in Verboordt, whose clients include West alongside Sting and Robert De Niro he said, “I've got this new concept that I've been diggin' into. I'm writing a philosophy book right now called Break the Simulation”.

Adding, “I've got a concept about photographs, and I'm on the fence about photographs—about human beings being obsessed with photographs—because it takes you out of the now and transports you into the past or transports you into the future. It can be used to document, but a lot of times it overtakes [people].”

Moving on later in the interview to discuss the future of his Yeezy line and its ongoing collaboration with sportswear staple Adidas West explained, “We do these sneakers that sell out and we get, ‘Oh, this is the number one brand on Women's Wear Daily.’ And I don't wish to be number one anymore, I wish to be water. I wish to be closer to UNICEF or something where I can take the information that I have and help as many people as possible, not to just shove it into a brand.”

Whilst West avoided conversations surrounding his music and future releases, he did speak on Virgil Abloh’s pivot to artistic director of menswear of Parisian fashion house Louis Vuitton, explaining “Because [Abloh and I] have been fighting to make apparel at a certain price that still has the same credibility and desirability as something at a higher price. … But when they say he was my creative director, that’s incorrect. He was a creative collaborator.
