The #MeToo campaign which went viral on social media to help demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplaces, followed soon after the public revelations of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

#MeToo has drawn global conversation and commitment to the abuse women face in everyday life and seeks to support of victims of sexual assault and harassment.

Meghan Markle is now a fully fledged member of the Church of England after the American actress was baptized and confirmed in a secret ceremony at St James's Palace in London this week.  

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby administered the holy sacrament in a 45-minute service on Tuesday evening at the palace's Chapel Royal with her fiance, Prince Harry, by her side, UK media outlets reported, quoting the Daily Mail.

Kensington Palace has not made a public statement but Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, were also said to have been among the handful of guests in attendance.

Welby was reportedly asked to lead the service by Markle, with whom he has developing a close bond after providing guidance on the rites and sacraments of the Church in recent weeks.

As part of the ceremony, holy water from the River Jordan was poured on Markle's head, the Mail reported. It was not necessary for Markle who attended a Roman Catholic high school but was brought up Protestant to convert in order to marry Prince Harry, but she announced at the time of her engagement that she would do so anyway before their wedding in mid-May.

Actress Yvonne Nelson says she does not regret giving birth to her daughter out of wedlock.

Yvonne welcomed her first child, Ryn Roberts - a girl - on Sunday, October 29th 2017, with her fiancée, Jamie Roberts.

In a recent interview with BBC, Yvonne said although she believes the best thing to do is have her child in marriage, she does not regret keeping her pregnancy and giving birth to her daughter.

I believe it’s the right thing to do. To get married, have kids, raise a family is ideal but I believe society puts a lot of pressure on women, young women in Africa especially.”

On how she felt when people criticised her after welcoming her daughter, Yvonne said

''I am a very positive person. I don't let all the negativity and all the bad talks get to me. I was staying positive. I had loved ones around me plus I had this beautiful blessing in my arms. It was all joy for me. I wasn't listening to all the negativity outside at all. It didn't really affect me at all''

According to her, what matters most is that “at the end of the day if my mum, my family is happy with me, I am happy with myself, that’s it''.

After scores of women accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, police in New York are finally ready to arrest the media mogul.

Weinstein, 65, has been accused of sexual harassment, assault and rape by around 100 women, including from global stars Rose McGowan, Asia Argento, Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, since October 2017 when revelations first broke. Some allegations date back to the 1980s. Weinstein denies all allegations of non-consensual sex.

There are police inquiries ongoing in LA, New York and London as regards the sexual assault allegations. Officers in New York have been investigating allegations against Weinstein for months and have handed their case files to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, the Daily Beast reports. The movie mogul will finally be put in handcuffs and see the inside of a jail cell once Mr Vance gives approval for charges.

"We’re ready to go with an arrest," Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told The Daily Beast. "We are still accumulating evidence."

He added: "It's going very, very well. We have a lot of information. We have a lot of information that we handed over to the grand jury. I would ask you to talk to (New York County District Attorney) Cy Vance."

According to police sources, the NYPD has been investigating five separate sexual assault allegations against Weinstein. The case authorities reportedly feel is particularly strong is of college student and aspiring actress Lucia Evans, who said she was forced to perform oral sex on Weinstein in 2004 in his Tribeca office in London even though she repeatedly told him "no."

Evans first revealed her story to The New Yorker, during which she said she told Weinstein "over and over" "I don’t want to do this, stop, don’t."

The reports come after the attorney general who filed a lawsuit against Weinstein claimed the case is one of the most despicable he has ever worked on. Eric Schneiderman filed the suit against the Hollywood producer and the Weinstein Co last month following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

In a BBC Panorama show on Thursday, the New York attorney general claimed there was "not one formal investigation" by the Weinstein Co into the producer's behaviour despite "lots of complaints". The 60-minute BBC film, produced with PBS Frontline, builds a picture of Weinstein through interviews with alleged victims, former colleagues and Hollywood figures.

Paul Webster, former head of production of Miramax, said he "didn't have the guts" to confront Weinstein.

He said: "I think looking back that I did know and I chose to suppress it. I chose to hide from that fact. I think the deal I made with the devil was to my advantage."

Among the alleged victims interviewed are actors Katherine Kendall and Sean Young, while Paula Wachowiak, a former intern at Miramax, recalled Weinstein laughing when she said he "disgust(ed)" her.

Model Zoe Brock told documentary makers: "I just remember feeling so small and so inconsequential and so powerless. I came out of the bathroom and he was apologising ... and he started to cry. And he said something that I have never forgotten and I never will for the rest of my days, in between his tears 'you don't like me because I'm fat'."

A spokeswoman for Weinstein told the film makers: "Mr Weinstein categorically denies ever engaging in any non-consensual sexual conduct with anyone and any suggestion that he acted improperly to defend himself against such claims is simply wrong.

"Nevertheless, to those offended by Mr Weinstein's behaviour, he remains deeply apologetic. At no time has Mr Weinstein been charged with any crime and it is wrong and irresponsible to conflate clams of impolitic behaviour or consensual sexual contact later regretted, with an untrue claim of criminal conduct. 

"Mr Weinstein categorically denies these claims and his lawyers will respond in the appropriate legal forum with evidence proving they are untrue."

New mom, Kylie Jenner has sparked abuse rumours after she displayed a black eye as she left a Miami hotel with her boyfriend Travis Scott.

The 20-year-old Lip Kit mogul was pictured over the weekend with a mark or bruise under her eye. She then tried to hide her face with a jacket as she made an exit after joining Travis, 25, as he performed at two shows in the Florida city.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Stormi Webster last month.

Still reacting to Rita Dominic's statement where she said 'not all movies all are cinema worthy', Nigerian comedian cum filmmaker Ayo Makun has said 'it was just a general statement to make the industry better'.

In a chat with LIB this afternoon, AY said, 'Rita Dominic actually made her point. I had a chat with her on other issues barely 24 hours before her post. I guess it was just a general statement to better the industry. I am only a baby producer in the industry with 3 movies that made it to the cinemas with good box office records/Guinness world records. Judging from where we are coming from, I'm impressed with the growth of Nollywood.

He added that, 'Unlike Hollywood, with little or no budget we make cautious effort to tell our stories. I am also open to any positive criticism that we help me improve in these line of business. If anyone describes my work as  hype, i will let the person understand that the hype man's job is to get everybody out of their seats and on the dance floor to have a good time. But you have a right stop dancing when you are not feeling the music. In other words hype without hardwork would only last for a short time. I won't be hyping The Yoruba Demons without content. I don't care about what other producers are taking to the cinemas'.

'The Cinema owners have their criteria and standards for screening any movie they show to the public. All i do is stay in my lane and do what i am supposed to do. Anyone have the right to say Timi Dakolo is a better singer than Davido, but they are both appreciated seperately in the showbiz world based on their different markets. So the seriousness and technicalities you expect from the movie 76 by Izu Ojukwu, should be different from an Ay' 30 Days in Atlanta that is designed to make you laugh' he said.

Nollywood actress Rita Dominic voiced her opinion on the state of the Nigerian film Industry.

The actress with over 20years experience feels that not every movie is cinema worthy.

According to sources, Rita was a lead actress in Lilian Afegbai's recent movie titled Bound. She however felt that the movie is not cinema worthy. She was not at the premiere of the movie and was also not at the screening. She also did not promote the movie at all on all her social media platforms and started the hashtag, #noteverymovieshouldbeincinemas.

LIB reached out to a couple of filmmakers, many declined to comment on the issue. However, multiple award winning filmmaker, Elvis Chucks reacted saying, 'that’s exactly what I've been saying about the rubbish Filmhouse cinema is producing'.

He went on to say, 'Filmhouse have come to monopolize the industry, while cinemas overseas are building the industry to greatness. We must call them out. They produce, write script, go to set, distribute, exhibits, I heard Kene Mkparu and Moses Babatope also acts with Mr Remy their Cinema manager, what else? Jack of all trade, master of none'.

'They come back from London with funny mentality borrow money from bank of industry to use in destroying the industry as well. This is really sad. Is this what their Oga Mr Craig asked them to do? Someone has to stand up to them. In Oprah’s word. Enough is Enough! A new day is on the Horizon. You can see all rubbish films mentioned are from Filmhouse. Tarnishing the image of the film industry in Nigeria which may affect how Africa and the rest of the world will see Nollywood' he said.

Prolific Nollywood filmmaker, Lancelot Imasuen, says he is in support of the statement made by Rita Dominic that not all Nollywood movies should make it to the cinemas. Yesterday, Rita in a post on her IG page, said not all movies should be taken to the cinemas.

In an exclusive chat with LIB, Imasuen said no Nollywood movie has truly made its returns after it was taken to the cinema.

According to him, most of the movies that have been taken to the cinemas end up on the red carpet and on Instagram after the premiere. He however added that there is no criteria to determine which film should be taken to the cinema...

 ''In our closet we also talk about it that the cinemas should also be mindful of what they take from Nollywood because we are having a problem. Everybody is talking about Black Panther. Even Atiku is went to watch Black Panther but I have asked people when they come out of the cinemas, if they understand the foreign film they went to watch? Many people are just following trend. A lot of people do not understand the movie, they just went to watch because their friend went to watch. 

It is not all kinds of filsm that should really make the cinemas. There are films that are deliberately made for home viewing, internet viewing, private view. Cinema films should have a lot of high pitch, entertainment. I am strongly with Rita Dominic that it is not all fims that should be taken to the cinemas. The cinema operators should also have an internal mechanism to identify the movies that should be taken to the cinemas. The question will now be what are the yardstick for measuring films that should cinematically viewed? We should leave the audience to determine the fims that should be cinematically viewed

99.9% of movies that get to the cinemas fail because they cannot make back their returns. They use hype, Instagram and social media razzmattazz to cover it up. Did you the advert of Black Panther on Nigerian tv? The actors are not doing meet and greet in the cinemas. Howcome, for three weeks now, the cinemas are being flooded? Who advertised the film. Several of Nollywood movies are failing because they cannot meet the small budgets that was used to make them. No Nigerian film has ever made movie in the cinemas. Most of the movies end up in the red carpet. People just go to the premiere to take selfies and that is the end.
