2. UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO
University of Illinois at Chicago offers an online doctor of Public Health in Leadership. The purpose of the degree is to train students to lead practice-based research, influence public health policy, effect change in health systems and institutions, and assume key roles in the public health community at local, national and international levels. The program is 64 credit hours long with residencies required during the summer. Tuition is $830 per credit hour. University of Illinois at Chicago is ranked #129 nationally by U.S. News and World Report. The UIC School of Public Health is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and UIC in general is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
3. ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY
Arizona State University offers an online doctor of Behavioral Health. The program prepares students to work in the newly transformed medical care marketplace, one in which evidence–based, cost–effective behavioral interventions replace treatment that results in undercare, overcare, or misuse. The degree includes a 400 hour clinical internship along with 84 credit hours. U.S. News and World Report ranks Arizona State University at #129 nationally, tied with University of Illinois at Chicago. Tuition is $862 per credit hour. Arizona State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.
4. UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA
University of South Florida offers an online doctor of Public Health degree. The program attempts to prepare students for work in health departments, non-profit organizations, health service, international agencies, and community-based organizations. The program requires 90 credit hours after a M.A. and 60 credit hours for those entering with an M.A. in hand. Areas of concentration include Community and Family Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology/Biostatistics, Global Health, Health Policy and Administration. The program is a hybrid system with one week summer courses as part of residency. U.S. News and World Report ranks USF at #156 nationally. In-state tuition is $432 per credit hour while out-of-state tuition is $878. The University of South Florida is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
5. A.T. STILL UNIVERSITY
A.T. Still University offers a doctor of Health Education online. The program is 78 to 84 credit hours and is complete delivered online. There are two years of core course and the third year is spent developing and writing a dissertation. The dissertation is to be defended in an online format to their committee as well as other faculty and students. Students can work at their own pace and complete one or two courses a term. Walden University offers a doctor in Public Health online. Course work includes topics in disease and injury prevention; health informatics; and the importance of communication, marketing, and public relations in the public health field. There are two tracks in the program including Community Health Education and Epidemiology. The program is designed to take 72 months and is about 85 credit hours long. Tuition is $540 per credit hour. Walden University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
7. CAPELLA UNIVERSITY
Capella University offers a Health Care and Nursing Doctor of Public Health online. There are three concentrations within the program including Epidemiology, Health Advocacy and Leadership, and General Public Health. The program is 80 credit hours on a quarter basis. The entire program is delivered online and includes a dissertation for completion. Students are prepared to work in consulting firms, community colleges, government, health care organizations, nonprofit organizations, land-based or online colleges or universities, research organizations, social welfare organizations or state departments of health.
