President Buhari’s farewell meeting with the Super Eagles squad (photos)

Head of states, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, charged the Super Eagles to make the country proud at the 2018 FIFA World Cup starting on June 14 in Russia.
The Super Eagles team on Wednesday, arrived at the presidential villa, Abuja for a farewell meeting with the head of states – while receiving the team at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, President Buhari charged the Super Eagles to make the country proud at the 2018 FIFA World Cup starting on June 14 in Russia.
He said: “We look up to you to make us proud.”
Noting that Super Eagles is one of the least experienced teams in the tournament, the President urged the players to take advantage of Nigerians’ support.
Buhari reminded the players they carry the emotions of 180 million Nigerians each time they go out to the pitch to play, adding nothing unites Nigeria more than football.
Captain of the team, Mikel Obi, said:
“All we have to do now is to go out there and make the country proud and come back with the trophy.”

World’s oldest refugee, 111, carried to Europe on son’s back wants to see her grandchildren

A refugee carried to Europe on her son’s back is asking authorities to let her see her grandchildren again. Laila Saleh, 111, is believed to be the world’s oldest refugee. 

She fled Syria in October 2017, and arrived in Greece where her asylum claim was fast-tracked because of her age. Usually the process of documenting and examining refugees’ applications for asylum can take up to a year. In Laila’s case the process was sped up, but it did not occur the same for the rest of her family in Greece with her so they cannot travel until their status is formalised.

As a result, she has been ‘stuck’ there, as her old age does not allow her to travel on her own. Her two granddaughters, Nesrin and Brivan, have been granted asylum in Germany and have their own family there.

Laila has been staying in an apartment in Athens since December 2017, with her family, her son Ahmad Ahmad, 66, his wife Amsha Ali, 59, their son Khalil Ahmad, 31, his wife Sawsan Ahmad, 26 and their twin boys of four years old, Ari and Azar. 

In spite of her age, she is physically healthy, and aid workers say she seems to be remembering things from her past. Speaking through an interpreter, Laila said: ‘We had a good, quiet, normal life in Syria for many years.

‘I was happy living in the country with my family – I had five kids. ‘People had their jobs and they cared about their homes. ‘Children were playing in the street, there was not any danger anywhere. 

‘The war destroyed everything’. She was born in Kobani, Syria in 1907 – but in fear for her life, she fled her homeland with her family. Her son literally carried her on his back as the family got on a boat in order to get to Greece.

Boxer ‘kills and dismembers girlfriend for lying about her virginity

Police are investigating a murder-suicide after a boxer allegedly killed his girlfriend and dismembered her for lying about her virginity when they met on Tinder. Gary Chu, 28, suspected that Yee-min Huang, 27, had been cheating on him with other men that she met via the dating app.

CCTV footage captured the final images of victim Yee-min as she followed Chu up the stairs to his flat where she was murdered before her body parts were disposed of in seven bin bags. Chu, an amateur MMA fighter and boxing trainer living in New Taipei City’s Banqiao District in North Taiwan, was found hanged a few days later. Police discovering a suicide note at the scene with the words: ‘She wronged me.’

The victim’s brother, Francis Huang, appealed to the public on Saturday for help searching for his missing sister, who he said he hadn’t heard from since 19 May. He suspected she was being held against her will by Chu. 

Later the same day, Chu claimed in a Facebook post that he had ‘never once hurt her or restricted her freedom’, suggesting that it was Yee-min who kept coming back to him when he tried to break up with her.

 In the post, Chu also revealed possible motives for the crime he is being accused of, writing: ‘After we met on Tinder, she lied to me saying she was a virgin. ‘I felt deceived and betrayed when I found out she had been lying and also cheating on me with other men.’

On Sunday, authorities announced that they had unearthed the victim’s scattered remains from the flower bed, while Chu’s body was found hanged from a tree at 5am, near the Ministry of Health and Welfare Hospital in Xinzhuang District.

Man has 4,100 gallstones removed from body

Doctors have removed 4,100 stones from a man’s gallbladder who had been ignoring the acute abdominal pain for several years. 

Yogesh Yewle, 43, had been complaining of excruciating abdominal pain but never consulted a specialist to diagnose his condition.

Every time when there was a bout of pain, he would pop painkillers and antacids to alleviate it. However, last week when the pain resurfaced Mr Yewle visited Krishna Hospital in Nashik in Maharashtra in western India where doctors found a cluster of 4,100 stones lying in his gallbladder after an ultrasound. 

The doctors immediately performed a single laparoscopy operation and removed the gallstones.

It took two of hospital staff members ‘over two hours’ to count the number of stones, which ranged 3mm to 4mm in diameter. Dr Amit Sharad Kele, Laparoscopic surgeon who operated on Yewle said: ‘He was admitted here last week after suffering from severe abdominal pain for two days.

‘The man hadn’t sought proper treatment and would take painkillers and antacids whenever he felt abdominal pain. ‘We had to perform an emergency surgery after several tests revealed the patient had multiple number of gallstones.’ 

Yewle, who runs a hardware shop, is responding well to treatment and will be discharged in a few days from the hospital.

Gallstones are usually made of cholesterol and form in the gallbladder. 

They typically do not cause symptoms but can lead to intense abdominal pain if they block a bile duct. 

Around one in 10 adults in the UK have gallstones but may not be aware of it. If people suffer inflammation of the gallbladder as a complication, they may experience pain, fever or jaundice.

Pilot dies after helicopter crashes in field in North Yorkshire

A pilot has died after his helicopter crashed near Aldborough, Boroughbridge.  A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘At 1.23pm today, police received reports of a helicopter crash near Aldborough, Boroughbridge. 

‘Officers are currently at the scene. Fire and ambulance crews are also in attendance.’ They said it was too early to give any information about casualties, but later confirmed the pilot had died. 

There were no other passengers.

The scene of the crash is close to the village of Aldborough. 

A North Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said: ‘We got a call at 13:26 to reports of a helicopter crashing into a field near Aldborough, close to Boroughbridge. 

‘A number of fire engines from Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Ripon are in attendance, and are using hose reels to dampen down the scene. 

‘North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service are also in attendance. ‘We are unable to confirm details about casualties at this time.’

Nobody stopped to help brave Greggs worker fighting against food thief

This is the shocking moment a man was seen brazenly stealing from a Greggs Bakery in broad daylight.

The man was seen carrying a giant carrier bag in the Greggs on Fore Street in Edmonton, London, last Wednesday. 

Footage taken by an onlooker shows the shoplifter bent over and stealing drinks from a cabinet in the store. He appears to be carrying a huge plastic carrier bag which is stashed full to the brim with goods from the bakery.

A female staff member, who is on the phone to police, attempts to hold onto the man by his jacket to stop him from escaping with the stolen goods. 

But the male pushes her and shouts ‘Get off! Get off me!’ before starting to run away. As the woman tries to keep the shoplifter from fleeing, a crowd of people can be seen standing outside the chain watching the outrageous incident. 

Another person in the crowd can be heard jokingly saying: ‘This guy’s gone!’.

The thief then aggressively pushes the Greggs staff member by the neck and finally runs away from the shop with his stolen items. 

The video, which has since clocked up over 250,000 views online, has divided users on social media, with some even defending the thief. 

Kadiee-anne said: ‘If he’s stealing food I don’t see a problem, people are going hungry in this country’, while and another person commented: ‘Stealing food like that means he’s hungry and desperate probably he needs to feed his family. He didn’t hurt the woman’.

Roberto de James said: ‘People do irrational things in times of need and if he feels he has to rob a shop then that’s his doing. Why does it bother you?’

However one user supported the Greggs staff member, saying: ‘All these w**kers standing around filming and not doing anything is just a sorry indictment of our useless society. Well done to the shop worker for trying. What’s wrong with people’. 

A user named Alex also commended the woman, saying: ‘How about people go get a job and don’t go robbing other people who are probably getting paid fk all.’

The 33-year-old siren posted a snap of the child to Snapchat with a bunny filter, adding the child was about to turn seven weeks old.

This comes the same day that InTouch Weekly claimed the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has already lost 30 lbs after welcoming the little girl thanks to consistent workouts. Before she was pregnant, the 5ft10in star said she was 128lbs.

And the granddaughter of Kris Jenner, 62, was laying on a fake fur white blanket proving she is already getting the princess treatment.

The woman Pusha T claims is Drake's baby mama proudly displayed her pregnancy journey on Instagram for months ... ending with a pic of baby Adonis himself.
We've learned the "Sophie" Pusha T mentions in his new Drake diss track, "The Story of Adidon," is Sophie Brussaux, a French porn star. She's the same woman who was photographed with Drake in Amsterdam in January, 2017 ... just days after the alleged conception. 
Sophie certainly didn't hide her pregnancy -- showing off her baby bump and even a cake from her baby shower with the name Adonis emblazoned on it -- the same name Pusha T uses in his track.
One thing missing throughout her posts ... any mention of Drake.
TMZ broke the story back in May, 2017 -- Brussaux claimed to have text messages between her and Drizzy supporting the claim he got her pregnant -- the alleged convo read ... 
Drake: I want you to have an abortion.
Brussaux: I can't kill my baby simply to indulge you sorry.
Drake: Indulge me? F*** you.
Brussaux: What?

Kim Kardashian is reportedly meeting with government officials about prison reform Wedneday.
The KKW Beauty mogul will speak with advisors including Jared Kushner about the case of Alice Marie Johnson, according to CNN and Vanity Fair
The White House did not return PEOPLE’s request for information/comment.
It’s not known whether she will meet with President Donald Trump, whom her husband Kanye West has praised publicly in controversial tweets. (Kardashian, 37, supported Hillary Clinton int he 2016 election.)
Johnson, 62, is a great-grandmother who was incarcerated in October 1996 for a first-time nonviolent drug offense after she helped facilitate communications in a drug trafficking case. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has been helping campaign for her presidential pardon.
In a personal essay published on CNN earlier this month, Johnson opened up about what Kardashian’s help has meant to her, including the spotlight that has been placed on her case.
“Some refer to prison as a place where hope dies. Some days I’ve found that to be almost right,” Johnson wrote. “Each time that I’ve come close [to giving up], God has restored my faith.”
“So when the unlikely voices of Kim Kardashian West and Jared Kushner came together to shine a spotlight on my case, I could only thank God, for he works in mysterious ways,” she continued.

Adidas Takes Lead Over Nike in World Cup Shirt Deals

Adidas — also the official sponsor of the tournament — is kitting out the most teams for this year's World Cup, which takes place in Russia.  

Adidas can declare itself the winner over arch rival Nike in the upcoming soccer World Cup even before the first match kicks off as it is kitting out the most teams.
However, the German sportswear brand, which is also the official sponsor of the tournament, expects only a limited financial impact, partly because this year's World Cup takes place in Russia, where the economy is in the doldrums.
"The World Cup in Russia does carry lower financial opportunities than the similar event four years ago in Brazil," Adidas chief executive Kasper Rorsted said earlier this month.
"At the same time, we're looking forward to it. It's going to be a fantastic way of bringing our brand to life globally," Rorsted added.
Since the last tournament in 2014, Adidas has grown sales rapidly in areas other than soccer, capitalising on booming demand for its retro basketball sneakers and springy Boost running shoes to outpace Nike, particularly in the US market.
Nevertheless, soccer remains important for the image of the German brand, which has supplied the World Cup match ball since 1970 and has a deal to sponsor the event until 2030.
It also announced last week it will extend its partnership with the UEFA Champions League until 2021.
After Nike kitted out more teams for the first time in Brazil in 2014, Adidas has fought back, this year sponsoring 12 of the 32 participating teams, including strong contenders like Germany and Spain, along with hosts Russia.
Nike, which only got heavily involved in soccer when the World Cup was played in the United States in 1994, is supplying shirts for 10 countries, including Brazil, France and England.
"The World Cup is such a powerful moment in sport, and we look forward to amplifying its energy," Nike Chief Executive Mark Parker said in March.
No Iranians Wear Nike
While team deals are important for sales of soccer jerseys, more critical for sales of boots is the sponsorship of top players, particularly the likes of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, who wears Nike, and Argentina's Lionel Messi, in Adidas.
Nike expects 60 percent of all the players heading to Russia will be wearing its boots, including almost half the German and Spanish team and three-quarters of the Russians, even though they will be wearing Adidas shirts.
An exception is Iran, which faces new sanctions after US President Donald Trump pulled out of an international nuclear deal. Nike says none of the country's players are wearing its shoes, while Adidas is providing the team's jerseys.

German brand Puma is a distant third, sponsoring just four relatively lowly teams in the competition, compared with the eight it kitted out in 2014, dented by the failure of its top team Italy to qualify.
Still, Puma Chief Executive Bjorn Gulden says the World Cup has helped its order book for the second and third quarters.
Adidas reported soccer-related sales of €2.1 billion (£1.8 billion) in 2014, when it sold 14 million official match balls and 8 million jerseys, including 3 million for the winning German team.
Sales rose to €2.5 billion by 2016, but slipped as a proportion of total Adidas revenue to 13.5 percent from 14.5 percent in 2014. It has not disclosed figures since then.
Nike saw soccer sales fall a currency-adjusted 4 percent to $2 billion for its fiscal year ended May 31, 2017, accounting for less than 6 percent of group revenue.
The World Cup could add about 3 to 4 percentage points to Adidas group revenue growth in 2018, lower than previous tournaments due to the fact it is happening in Russia, according to Piral Dadhania, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets.
However, Dadhania noted much of the benefit occurs before the event as the jerseys have already been sold to retailers.
"Any incremental boost during or after the event relating to jersey sales depends on the extent to which specific teams progress through the competition," Dadhania said.

Meek Mill seems to have everyone on board for a new trial -- except possibly the judge -- because the prosecutor in the case just filed legal docs saying he deserves another go in court.
The D.A. handling the case wrote in a doc obtained by TMZ, "In light of recent disclosures regarding this officer's misconduct, the Commonwealth is not able to stand behind the credibility of his trial testimony at this time. Accordingly, the Commonwealth concedes that a new trial is necessary."
The cop in question was seemingly corrupt, according to a "do not call" list created by the D.A.'s office and was central to Meek's conviction for weapons and drugs. The D.A. actually made that point during a previous court hearing, but Judge Genece Brinkley said the issue wasn't before her so she told Meek to sit in jail without bail for 60 days until the scheduled hearing.
There's a hearing today during which Meek's lawyer will ask that Judge Brinkley be removed from the case based on bias.
