Beyoncé fell on stage at Coachella last night while attempting to lift Solange

by , in
It looks like Queen Bey's performance at Coachella last night suffered a dance technicality when the 36-year-old star tried and failed to lift up her sister, Solange during a dance routine to "Get Me Bodied".
While the sisters were dancing on stage, Beyoncé turned towards Solange to lift her but it looks like the star suffered a slip and the two ended up landing on the floor. However, in true Knowles style, they turned the fall into a dance move, laughing and shaking their legs in the air as they recovered smoothly, stood up and kept on dancing.
One Twitter user captured the fall on their phones and we have to admit it does look painful.

For the second weekend in a row performing at Coachella, former members of Destiny's Child joined Beyoncé on stage as well as her husband Jay-Z and as a suprise this week, she had another guest, which was J Balvin who appeared on stage for one track, a remix of his smash hit, "Mi Gente".
The singer told the crowd last night:
"I'm so happy that I am here. I was supposed to perform at Coachella [last year] but I ended up getting pregnant - thank God! So I had time to dream and dream and dream with two beautiful souls in my belly...
"Thank you guys for sharing this with me. I hope y'all enjoyed the show."
Beyoncé broke the record this year for the most ever viewed performance at Coachella with 458K simultaneous viewers, 75 percent over last years most watched performance.

Big Brother winner Brian Belo brands Emma Willis a ‘Davina wannabe’

by , in

Former Big Brother winner Brian Belo holds a serious grudge when it comes to the Channel 5 presenter Emma Willis. And he doesn’t seem too keen on the decision to replace Big Brother’s Bit On The Side with the original spin off show Big Brother’s Little Brother. In a series of angry tweets he expressed his disdain for the host, and branded her a ‘Davina wannabe’ before claiming that Emma and her co-host Rylan Clark-Neal ‘couldn’t present’. Tweeting out to his 133,000 followers, the 30-year-old wrote: ‘I still can’t believe that @channel5_tv are bringing back Big Brother’s Little Brother. @bbuk It’s not even wanting to be nasty, it’s like they both need to go. This decade, we’ve got a new breed of presenters, people who can’t present!

Big Brother winner Brian Belo brands Emma Willis a 'Davina wannabe'

‘It’s like, we all get that you wanted to be Davina! But there’s only one Davina! It’s too much to take now! Davina done @bbuk so now your doing it, she done Popstars: The Rivals, so you do TheVoice .. Davina does L’Oréal adverts, so now you do L’Oréal adverts. It’s like *!£%-off! (sic)’

He then went on to question the viewer’s memory of Davina McCall, and revealed that watching the show go from ‘person to person’ makes him feel sick.

He wrote: ‘I just feel like saying, does anybody have a memory. Is there not a single human being alive with a memory!?!? Because if they do, they sure are not very good at functioning it! People are getting away with daylight robbery now and everyone is far too fickle for my liking! (sic)’

Before adding: ‘All these little glory-hunters! The 1s running around after people because their in power, their the 1s that will be struck down! Cos’ we’ve watched them now, for long enough go from person to person. It’s completely nauseating!! It’s like, do you have a backbone? Do you?! (sic)’ He even hashtag-ed his final tweet with the word ‘livid’… You don’t say! And the rant didn’t stop there. The reality TV star was asked by his fans if he was okay, which set him off again, making him confess that he couldn’t watch another season with the two current hosts.

'Governance in Nigeria has collapsed' Prof Wole Soyinka

by , in
On Sunday, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka declared that governance in Nigeria has collapsed, noting that democracy and the society are totally in danger. He said enemies of democracy, who inaugurated certain policies which contributed to the nation’s woes are once again coming out and positioning themselves as saviours and messiahs ahead of the 2019 general election.

Speaking during the 80th posthumous birthday celebration of the late legal luminary and human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehin-mi (SAN), in Lagos, Soyinka called for drastic actions to rescue the already endangered Nigeria’s democracy.

In his words: “All I want to say in connection with the title of today’s event is just one word; vigilance. Please be vigilant.  The theme of the gathering today is most pertinent. There is no question whatsoever that democracy is in danger; not just democracy; in fact, the society is in danger. I do not believe any moment in my existence in this world and in this nation specifically what I have felt myself in an environment of mere total collapse. We all know that.

“The question is; do we see it as an opportunity to do a rescue mission or do we see it as an opportunity to take advantage once again and continue our role; our contribution for bringing the nation to its knees. In other words, it is no news whatsoever that we have reached a point where drastic actions has to be taken to rescue the nation as a corporate entity and at the same time to rescue what I called the conglomeration of protocols that keep us together, which we placed under the rubric of democracy.

“And so, I find it ironic that those who themselves; the enemies of democracy, who really committed acts, not just negligence but actually inaugurated certain policies which contributed to our being where we are today are once again coming out and positioning themselves as saviours and messiahs that this nation can really dream of; a nation of modestly about 200million people.”

He continued: “I find it very strange and even stranger because at the beginning of this movement towards ‘rescuing the nation, there were one or two organisations that came out under different names and they had people in them, whom I can say was following what encouraged them and what is encouraging others to study closely and even consider following. The list thing I knew was that this movement was being hijacked by the very people who laid the foundation for the collapse of the democratic edifice.

Eminem Is The Highest Selling Rapper In RIAA History

by , in

Eminem is now the highest selling rapper in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA.
Not only is Eminem the highest selling rapper of all-time on the RIAA, but he is also the second highest selling artist behind Rihanna who holds the top spot with 121 million certified units sold, which is a combination of singles sold and streaming equivalent units sold. Em sold 107.8 certified units sold according to a recent tweet by the RIAA. Consider that Eminem released far less music than artists these days and he is outselling them.
This also means that Slim Shady is outselling major pop stars like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry who currently holds the number three and four spots. In February, the RIAA issued over 40 new digital single certifications and that helped tip the scale for him that put him in his new position.
Eminem and Rihanna, who holds the top two spots, are also frequent collaborators including on songs like “Love The Way You Lie,” which has been certified 12X platinum. Eminem’s classic single “Lose Yourself” has been certified 10X platinum, which means it sold over 10 million copies and is now certified diamond.
In contrast, other rappers fall way behind Eminem with Drake being the closest with 55 million certified units sold, Kanye West with 51.5 million units sold, and Lil Wayne 32 million units sold.

Rapper Jacquees and His Girlfriend on Baecation In Jamaica

by , in

Jacquees and his girlfriend were spotted baecationing in Jamaica last week.
The Atlanta singer/songwriter and his high school sweetheart touched down in Jamrock last week for a week long vacation. Perhaps this is a good move for Jacquees who has been getting some bad press in the last few weeks from his arrest in Miami for disorderly conduct and disobeying police orders. Well that’s according to the police report which the singer calls BS. A video surfaced online then showing police manhandling Jacquees while putting him in handcuff and hauling him off the jail.
On the brighter side of life, Jacquees and his bae pack their bags and jetted off to Jamaica for a little getaway for their birthdays. “Live from Jamaica!” he tweeted. He later added on Instagram, “1st Time out here and I’m loving it!”

Nicki Minaj Says Drake & Meek Mill Have Moved On From Beef

by , in

Nicki Minaj says both Drake and Meek Mill have moved on from their beef, but are they?
Nicki is back on the scene after going ghost for a few months to record her new album. Last week, she dropped two new singles and did an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio on Apple Music where she opened up about a bunch of stuff and get some other stuff off her chest including her issues with Cardi B. She also opened up about Meek Mill legal troubles and his infamous beef with Drake in 2015 that spilled over in 2016.
At the time of the beef, Nicki Minaj was at the center having being labelmate and close friends with Drake and dating Meek Mill. That put her in a peculiar position that she didn’t want to be in. She described it as one of the hardest parts of her career. Nicki Minaj also recalled reuniting with Drake after breaking up with Meek Mill and he told her that the entire time during the beef the only thing he was worried about is she dissing him in a diss track. She also thinks that Meek shouldn’t have started the beef with Drake.
“I was behind the scenes, wishing it wouldn’t happen,” Nicki recalls. “I said, ‘Don’t do that.’ I think, as artists, we all look back on things that we shouldn’t have done.”
Nicki Minaj added that the two artists have since moved on from the beef but they both occasionally send subliminal shots at each other in their new music. “What I do know is that Meek and Drake have moved on from that,” she said.
Nicki Minaj is getting ready to drop her forthcoming album and perhaps she will address the Meek Mill and Drake situation more or perhaps not. Nevertheless, it’s good to hear her perspective on what really went down.

Solange Calls Jamaica Her Second Home in Heartfelt Letter

by , in

Jamaica is Solange Knowles home away from home.
The R&B singer penned a heartfelt letter to Jamaica in her cover story for the new issue of Dazed magazine. In her piece, Solange opened up about all the time she flew to the island which has become her secret escape whenever she is going through a bad patch or whenever she needs inspiration for new music. A large part of her 2016 album “A Seat at the Table” was recorded in Jamaica. She drew inspiration while staying at the secluded Cardiff Hall villa in the parish of St Ann. Famous artists like Jon Mitchell previously stayed at the villa and record music.
Solange says she looked at images of the house in Runaway Bay for five years before finally going there. “I’ve been following Joni. First through her words, then through her truth, then through her melodies and the way I dance and drown in them,” she wrote. “Then through her jazz, through chords that ease themselves into one another without ever showing their shadows. Through her exodus. To Topanga, and then to Laurel, and now to Runaway Bay, without even trying to find her.”
“I’ve been looking at photos of this house in Runaway Bay for five years,” Solange added. “Wanting to know if it could tell my secrets. If it could hold me. If I could write music, and drink wine, and draw sketches, and sleep well naked and invent new ways to say how I feel. If I could burn my sage, and wash my hands with Florida water right there on the porch until I feel renewed.”
Solange spoke about her time in the Port Antonia a place in Jamaica where her sister Beyonce and brother-in-law JAY-Z have stayed and record music in the past. “When I wake up in Port Antonio I plan on having a sip of coffee,” she said. “I want to eat in silence, then try and record the vocals one more time to “Where do we go from here”. I have re-recorded them over like, four times. I am feeling insecure about not enunciating my words clearly enough for people to understand the lyrics. I take a walk and sit under the big tree. I smile thinking about jumping off the cliffs in the lagoon. I have jumped that cliff about half a dozen times, and each and every-time it feels like a deliverance and salvation and I want my future to be bright blue green like those waters.”
Elsewhere in the piece, Solange Knowles spoke about her time spent in St. Elizabeth and in Jamaica’s capital Kingston. She even spoke about her love and admiration for Jamaican icon Grace Jones, describing her as, “Mom. Dad. Icon. Artist. Mother. Cosmic Wonder. Waver of the Freak Flag. The First. The Only. Metallic Marvel. Earth Pioneer & Space Dweller. Thunder and lightening. Founding Father. Our Lady Mother of Avant Garde. A Priestess. Queen of lewks. Dazzling Muse of Many. Our Opulent Opis.”
You can read the full spread in Dazed magazine.
