Kanye West's Yeezy Clothing Brand Being Sued Over Camouflage Print

by , in
Kanye West’s clothing company Yeezy is facing a legal battle after another business filed a lawsuit alleging that the rapper’s fashion line used their camouflage design without their permission.
According to reports by TMZ, Jordan Outdoor Enterprises filed a lawsuit at a federal court in Georgia against Kanye’s label Yeezy Apparel on Thursday (March 15th), arguing that the Yeezy camouflage print is an unauthorised copy of their own Realtree collection and an infringement of their copyright. Yeezy used it as part of their Season 5 collection of hoodies, cargo pants, bomber jackets and boots.
NBA star LeBron James is under the microscope as well, as his Miami-based fashion line Unknwn is also being named in the lawsuit for similar alleged copyright theft for selling the Yeezy items.
Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, was recently pictured back in January wearing a version of the Yeezy camo print.
The plaintiff states that a representative from Yeezy had gotten in touch with Jordan back in March 2016 with inquiries about their camouflage design. However, communication between the two companies ended abruptly when the subject of licensing was brought up by Jordan.
Jordan is also accusing Kanye’s company of “falsifying, removing and altering copyright management information” of their pattern without permission.
The company is seeking damages for an unknown amount, and is asking that Yeezy Apparel stop all activity related to the production of the items in question, and turn over any remaining existing stock to be destroyed.
Camouflage has been a recurring pattern in Kanye’s fashion brands over the years, but it might not be a very prominent theme for much longer. Recent reports suggested that the rapper wasn’t satisfied with the overarching vision for the line’s upcoming season, so is only releasing the shoes from that collection.

Snapchat stocks significantly drop after Rihanna blasts ‘ignorant’ Ad that referenced her physical assault from Chris Brown

by , in

Days ago, Social Media Network, Snapchat ran an offensive advert that asked its users if they would rather "slap Rihanna" or "punch Chris Brown".

The advert was a reference to Brown's 2009 conviction for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, which Snapchat said was "reviewed and approved in error".

But soon after Rihanna blasted the ‘ignorant’ advert via her Instagram stories, about $800 million of Snap’s market value were erased. Shares of the Snapchat app also dropped 3.6% to close at $17.20 right after the Pop star's response, according to Wall Street Journal.

UEFA Rudely Fines Besiktas For Delightful Cat On Pitch

by , in

Wednesday’s Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Besiktas experienced a brief interruption in the second half, courtesy of a friendly little kitty-cat scampering onto the pitch:
Unfortunately for Besiktas—who lost, 3-1—the club now faces punishment for welcoming the adorable cat into its home. UEFA considered the feline’s presence proof of “insufficient organization,” and slapped Besiktas with a fine.
A mistake. Hosting a cat is proof of a more sufficient organization, not an insufficient one. Alas.

Arsene Wenger keen to avoid Atletico Madrid in Friday's Europa League quarter-final draw

by , in

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted he is keen for his side to avoid Atletico Madrid in Friday’s quarter-final draw after they reached the last eight of the Europa League with victory over AC Milan.
With the Gunners leading 2-0 from the first leg, striker Danny Welbeck celebrated his England recall with two goals, his first since early January, while Granit Xhaka also netted following Hakan Calhanoglu’s opener for Milan.
Victory ensured Arsenal reached a European quarter-final for the first time since 2010, while they werejoined in the quarter-finals by Atletico, CSKA Moscow, Lazio, RB Leipzig, Marseille, RB Salzburg and Sporting Lisbon.
“That [Atletico] is certainly the team you would want to avoid, but let’s see, we have no influence on that,” said Wenger, who refused to be lured into a diving row after Welbeck appeared to hit the ground under minimal contact as Arsenal levelled courtesy of a fortuitous penalty.
“Maybe looking at the reaction of the Italian players we were a bit lucky but the positive of the situation is straight away when we were 1-0 down we saw the response of the team and we released our handbrake.
“Were we lucky on the penalty? Maybe, I don’t know. I don’t want to accuse Danny Welbeck of diving before I’ve seen the situation. He looked genuine that it is a penalty. I don’t know.”
Milan fired a warning shot across the Arsenal bow inside the opening minute as striker Andre Silva’s first-time shot whistled into the side-netting following a rampaging run from right-back by former Chelsea and Liverpool striker Fabio Borini.
The visitors did, however, stoke hope of an unlikely comeback when Calhanoglu crashed a swerving 30-yard effort towards goal which deceived Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, although their renewed belief was short-lived.
Arsenal were awarded a contentious penalty when Welbeck hit the deck following minimal contact from Milan’s Ricardo Rodriguez, and the former Manchester United striker sent Gianluigi Donnarumma the wrong way from the spot.
The Gunners extended their advantage on 71 minutes when the highly-rated Donnarumma made a complete hash of a long-range Xhaka shot, with the ball squirming over line.
It was left to Welbeck to round off the Arsenal scoring as he nodded home from close range after Donnarumma had repelled a header from Aaron Ramsey following Jack Wilshere’s cross.

Wenger praises Arsenal resilience as they reach Europa quarters

by , in

Arsene Wenger praised his Arsenal players for the “resilient and disciplined” way in which they qualified for the Europa League quarter-finals with a 3-1 win over AC Milan on Thursday.
“We won the two games and finished the (second) game in a convincing way against a solid team,” he told reporters after a Danny Welbeck double and Granit Xhaka goal secured the victory.
Arsenal’s 2-0 away win against Gennaro Gattuso’s side in the first leg put the Londoners in the driving seat for the return fixture, but the game at The Emirates was slow to get going.
“It’s always difficult to finish the job, especially when you have a good away result because you don’t know a little bit (what’s going to happen) in between,” Wenger said.
The match came to life in the 35th minute when Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu struck a superb 30-yard goal, finding a gap in Arsenal’s shaky defence and throwing the Italians a lifeline.
But Arsenal restored their two-goal aggregate advantage two minutes later when Danny Welbeck won and then scored a penalty which was controversially awarded and enraged the Milan players.
“You could see straightaway the response in the (Arsenal) team, and we pushed forward and were dangerous,” Wenger said.
Welbeck went down after the lightest of touches on the back of the ankle but when asked if his player had dived Wenger said he would need to see a replay before passing judgment.
“I will watch it again and give you my honest feeling about it. I will give him (Welbeck) my honest feeling about it as well, don’t worry,” he said.

FIRST PENALTY

Remarkably, it was Welbeck’s first penalty in senior football but Wenger had no qualms about him taking it.
“Yes it was his first penalty but we worked on it in training a lot,” he said. “He took many penalties and he convinced me that he can be a good penalty-taker.
“Every game he plays makes him stronger and that is very good for Danny, for his confidence, for the fact that he did fight very hard,” added the Frenchman.
“He scored a penalty that was a vital one, an important one, and he had the mental strength to have a clean finish.”
Arsenal will find out their quarter-final opponents on Friday and Wenger wants to avoid Atletico Madrid, who demolished Lokomotiv Moscow 8-1 on aggregate to reach the last eight.
“Maybe the favourite is Atletico Madrid. But what I like has no influence. We just have to wait for tomorrow,” (being today Friday) he said.
Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League and unlikely to finish in the top four so their only likely route into next season’s Champions league is by winning the Europa League.

Chicago drops out as host city in 2026 FIFA World Cup bid

by , in

Chicago has dropped out as a possible hosting site in United States' bid to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, local media Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.
Soldier Field stadium in downtown Chicago was one of 32 potential venues on a list released last year by the joint bid committee that's vying to bring the world' s biggest sporting event to the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
But Matt McGrath, a spokesman for Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement released Wednesday that FIFA was unable to provide "certainty" that Chicago taxpayers would not be affected if selected as a host city.
"The uncertainty for taxpayers, coupled with FIFA's inflexibility and unwillingness to negotiate, were clear indications that further pursuit of the bid wasn't in Chicago's best interests," McGrath said in the statement.
FIFA insists that contracts with host cities contain a provision that be governed under Swiss law and give FIFA the ability to modify agreements at any time.
Vancouver in Canada's British Columbia also pulled out for the bid as officials said provisions add "unknown costs and unknown risks to the taxpayers."
Morocco is the other bidder besides the joint U.S., Canada and Mexico. The FIFA Congress votes to decide on the winner on June 13 in Moscow.

Danny Welbeck nets brace as Arsenal finally break through last-16 barrier with victory over AC Milan

by , in

The Gunners are in the quarter-finals European continental competition for the first time since the 2009-10 Champions League

Arsenal have finally broken through their last-16 barrier after almost a decade of failed attempts to make the quarter-final stage in European competition.
The Gunners defeated AC Milan 3-1 on Thursday, 5-1 on aggregate to advance to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
It marks the first time Arsenal are through to the quarter-finals in Europe since the 2009-10 campaign.
Every season since, Arsenal have stumbled at the last-16 hurdle of the Champions League. While that is an impressive streak of advancement out of group stage, the inability to move any further had become a sore spot for Arsene Wenger and the club.
Though this feat has come in the Europa League, success in this competition remains Arsenal’s best chance at getting an opportunity to break that barrier in the Champions League next season.
Arsenal are among the favorites in the last eight and will hope to push all the way to the title as an automatic place in Europe’s top continental club competition comes with it.
Meanwhile, the Gunners also snapped another drought in the process of their dominating victory over the Serie A side. It was the first time since the 2003-4 season that Arsenal have won both legs of a continental tie.
it was the club’s first victory in the knockout stages in continental competition at the Emirates since March 2012, when the Gunners also beat Milan, that time in the Champions League.
And the success for Arsenal has been the result of a varied attack that has seen goals come from all over the field. Danny Welbeck picked up a brace in the second-leg victory, while Granit Xhaka found the back of the net as well to become the 14th and 15th goal scorers for the club in this year’s competition, the highest of any team in this year’s Europa League.
Arsenal will learn their quarter-final opponent in Friday's draw, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Marseille and Lazio also advancing to the last eight.
