Diego Costa stuns Chelsea fans with Instagram story ahead of tonight’s clash with Barcelona

by , in

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa left fans rather stunned with a bizarre gesture ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.
The Spain international, who formally completed his move away from Stamford Bridge back to Atletico Madrid in January, certainly left the club with his relationship with former manager Antonio Conte damaged.
It was widely acknowledged that things ended badly between the pair as Conte informed Costa via text message that he planned not to use him beyond the end of last season.
Chelsea ended up signing Alvaro Morata as Costa’s replacement before they’d actually sorted out selling him, with the 29-year-old banished from the first-team at the start of the season.

Tonight, Costa has shown just how much resentment he feels towards Conte, as he uploaded an image of himself following the Barcelona game, but crossed out Conte’s name.
A number of Chelsea fans noticed this and reacted with the bafflement and amusement you’d expect.
Love him or hate him, Costa is certainly a big character who wears his heat on his sleeve and knows how to get a reaction…

Man United's Bailly asks for forgiveness after Champions League loss

by , in

After a brace from Sevilla's Wissam Ben Yedder dumped Manchester United out of the Champions League, Eric Bailly asked for forgiveness.

Eric Bailly has apologised after Manchester United suffered a shock Champions League exit at the hands of Sevilla.
United were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford by the LaLiga side on Tuesday, with Bailly one of the few players to emerge with any credit.
The centre-back denied Joaquin Correa what looked a certain goal with a terrific tackle at 0-0, but Wissam Ben Yedder came off the bench to strike twice in six minutes to down Jose Mourinho's men.
Mourinho claimed his side had not given a "bad" performance as they failed to reach the quarter-finals, but Bailly acknowledged in a social media post that United were substandard.
We ask the fans for forgiveness following our exit. Last night was terrible and we must all reflect and take note so it doesn't happen again. It's painful, but we have to get right back up, dust ourselves off, and look ahead.

He makes the difference in every game – Iniesta hails Messi

by , in

Andres Iniesta said Barcelona knew Lionel Messi would make the difference after the star fired his side past Chelsea.

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta hailed Lionel Messi after the superstar helped the Liga giants past Chelsea and into the Champions League quarter-finals.
Messi brought up his 100th goal in Europe's premier club competition with a brace in the 3-0 second-leg win at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
The Argentina star also set up Ousmane Dembele as Barca sealed a 4-1 aggregate win to move into the last eight.
Iniesta, who came off before the hour-mark after starting despite a hamstring concern, lauded Messi for his latest masterclass.
"It's what we always talk about. Leo makes the difference in every game. It's a blessing," he told beIN SPORTS.
"I hope we can get closer to this Champions League. We've taken another step."
The win saw Barca reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the 11th consecutive season – the longest run in the competition's history.
11 - Barcelona have reached the quarter-finals for the 11th consecutive season, the longest run in the history of the Champions League. Infallible.
Iniesta believes Ernesto Valverde's men are capable of capturing the trophy for a sixth time – and first since 2015 – this season.
"It's always a motivation to win the Champions League but it's always complicated. A bad game leaves you out," he said.
"The challenge is to minimise the mistakes because I think we have the team and the form to win it."

Thibaut Courtois: 'I made mistake for first Lionel Messi goal'

by , in

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he "did not expect Lionel Messi to shoot from that angle" for Barcelona's first goal in their Champions League last-16 second leg.
The Blues were knocked out of the competition by a 4-1 aggregate scoreline on Wednesday night as their 1-1 home draw in the first leg was nullified by a 3-0 defeat at Camp Nou.
Messi opened the scoring in the third minute when he slotted through Courtois's legs from a tight angle and added a second just after the hour, whilst also providing the assist for Ousmane Dembele's 20th-minute strike.
"I don't think we deserve to be out, but individual mistakes cost us in both legs," the Belgian told BT Sport. "The first goal, I did not expect Lionel Messi to shoot from that angle and I was too late in closing my legs. It was a mistake on my part.
"There were missed passes from us and they scored from our mistakes. We defended and played well, hit the crossbar which was unlucky on our side but the individual mistakes cost us. We have to be honest about that.
"I played against Messi a lot of time, I have already conceded goals like that before. The weakest point is between the legs or a goalkeeper. It is annoying, I cannot hide inside, I have to be a man and come out. I made some good saves too but we go out with conceding four goals from four mistakes."
Chelsea return to action on Sunday when they visit Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Paris Jackson steps out at LA hot spot Craig's after hitting back at critics of her marijuana use

by , in

Paris Jackson is never one to slink away from controversy.
The daughter of the late Michael Jackson, 19, was snapped Monday grabbing dinner at the Los Angeles restaurant Craig's, a favorite of celebs, after she made headlines fending off criticism of her use of marijuana.
The Gringo star went with a colorful vintage ensemble, wearing a multicolored coat with horizontal stripes over a red shirt with a graphic of a cat's face, blue jeans with flared bottoms and black Vans sneakers.

She wore a red and white trucker style hat and puffed on a tobacco cigarette outside of the venue.
Paris, the sister of Prince, 21, and Blanket, 16, was embroiled in a minor kerfuffle after taking to social media Sunday with a clip in which she smoked a large marijuana cigarette. (It is legal for her to smoke recreational marijuana in her home state of California.)

The social media post, which Paris enhanced with a fiery filter, provoked upset reactions pointing to Paris as a poor role model, and the behavior as something that would have embarrassed her late father, who himself died at 50 from a drug overdose infamously involving the anesthetic propofol.
But Paris was having none of the lectures, as she answered back at her critics on social media.

Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette: The daughter of the late Michael Jackson puffed on a tobacco cigarette outside the swanky restaurant
Always in style: The fashionista stepped out in a casual ensemble highlighted by her multi-colored coat

When someone referenced how upset the late King of Pop would have been, Paris wrote back, 'I think i’m doing pretty ok considering the circumstances.'
She also brought up the merits of her drug of choice, citing how it's natural, as opposed to the lab-created pharmaceuticals prescribed by doctors that receive less social stigma.
'Try googling "narcotics" "big pharma" and then google "cbd" then get back to me, i'll be sitting here eating granola and watching scooby doo,' she said. She made a reference to CBD, the compound Cannabidiol, which is an active ingredient in cannabis scientists say does not have psychoactive impact on its users.
'I know of a few parents that actually rely on this amazing organic medicine to keep their children alive since the alternative pharmaceutical drugs that doctors were shoving down their throats was basically killing the poor little ones,' she said. 'But hey, to each his own.'

Standing up: Jackson fended off detractors by noting the natural merits of marijuana and its components as opposed to pharmaceutical drugs
Armed: Paris toyed around with a sword in a social media clip she posted Monday
Because she got high: Some of Paris's followers looked down on her consumption of the drug, which is legal for recreational purposes in her home state of California

Responses: Paris stood up for herself against critics, demonstrating her thorough knowledge of marijuana in the process
