La Liga Griezmann hat-trick as Atletico trounce Sevilla, cut gap on Barcelona

French striker Antoine Griezmann hit a hat-trick as Atletico Madrid thrashed Sevilla 5-2 on Sunday to cut the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona back to seven points.
The result was also a boost for Manchester United, who face Sevilla in the Champions League last 16 second leg next month afer the two sides were locked 0-0 from the first game.

"I'm very happy with the team's work, but a little less happy that we conceded two goals," said Griezmann.

"It's good that we have several forwards who score goals, but the most important thing is the three points."

Former Chelsea star Diego Costa grabbed the opener just before the half-hour mark after a farcical mix-up in the Sevilla defence.

Goalkeeper Sergio Rico attempted to play a short ball to Ever Banega standing on the edge of the penalty area.

However, his teammate dallied too long and predator Costa nipped in to steal the ball off the toe of the Argentine before confidently burying the opportunity.

Sevilla had plenty of chances with Colombian striker Luis Muriel seeing Atletico keeper Jan Oblak deny him with a smart save.

Three minutes from the break, Griezmann scored his first of the night when he danced between three defenders to score with a fierce right-footed drive past Rico.

Griezmann made it 3-0 five minutes into the second half, converting his team's first La Liga penalty of the season after Costa was brought down by Rico.

Sevilla imploded with Koke making it 4-0 after more suicidal defending before Griezmann completed his hat-trick on 80 minutes, taking his Liga tally to 11 for the season.

The home side salvaged a degree of pride when Pablo Sarabia and Nolito tucked away goals in the last five minutes.

On Saturday, Luis Suarez hit a hat-trick as Barcelona thrashed neighbours Girona 6-1 while Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Real Madrid in a 4-0 defeat of Alaves.

Real are third, seven points behind Atletico and 14 back from Barcelona.

Earlier on Sunday, Santi Mina scored both goals as Valencia defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 to stay firmly on course for the Champions League next season.

The victory took fourth-placed Valencia to 49 points, just two behind Real and eight ahead of Villarreal in the race for spots in the continent's top club competition.

Valencia went ahead in the 34th minute with a Santi Mina header before Mikel Oyarzabal levelled with a powerful drive after 54 minutes.

However, a mistake by Sociedad goalkeeper Tono Ramirez 13 minutes later allowed Mina to tuck away the second goal and ensure the three points against rivals who were eliminated from the Europa League on Thursday at the hands of Salzburg.

En-Nesyri's rollercoaster
Athletic Bilbao came from a goal down to defeat rock-bottom Malaga 2-1 on a roller-coaster day for Moroccan international striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

The 20-year-old gave Malaga a 12th minute lead, finishing off a cross from the right hand side.

Markel Susaeta levelled five minutes later before a half-volley from Mikel San Jose secured the win for Athletic just before half-time.

En-Nesryi then missed a penalty on the hour when his spot-kick was saved by Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

His frustrations then got the better of him when he was red-carded six minutes from time after picking up a second booking.

Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo saved two penalties as his side beat Getafe 1-0 to consolidate their push for European football next season.

Turkey international Enes Unal scored the only goal at El Madrigal after just three minutes and Asenjo preserved the lead by saving a first-half spot-kick from Angel Rodriguez.

The 28-year-old then kept out a Jorge Molina penalty on 51 minutes to allow Villarreal to climb above Sevilla into fifth after halting a run of three league matches without a win.

Lukaku shoots down Chelsea at Old Trafford

Manchester United moved back into second place in the Premier League as substitute Jesse Lingard gave them victory over top-four rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils had to come from behind after Willian started and finished a flowing move to give the visitors the lead in the first half.

United pulled level before the break, with striker Romelu Lukaku getting in front of Marcos Alonso to score against his former club for the first time.

Lukaku then set up Lingard to head home with 15 minutes left, after which Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata had a goal incorrectly disallowed for offside.

Defeat leaves the Blues in fifth place after Tottenham beat Crystal Palace 1-0earlier on Sunday.

A run of just one win in their past four league matches, coupled with Spurs’ 10-game unbeaten streak, means they are out of the Champions League places with 10 games remaining.

Chelsea went close to taking the lead at Old Trafford after just four minutes, when Morata ran on to Alonso’s brilliant volleyed cross, but his shot hit the bar.

Lukaku, facing the club he played for between 2011 and 2014, also had a flying volley superbly saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Lukaku came into the game having scored 12 goals in the Premier League so far this season, but with none – and only four shots on target – against the other teams in the top six.

The Belgian, signed for £75m from Everton last July, had never scored in either seven previous league appearances against Chelsea, or 10 for the Blues during a spell in which he enjoyed more success while on loan at West Brom and Everton.

But the 24-year-old edged in front of Alonso to finish off a neat move involving Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial and end his dry spell against the top flight’s elite.

Lukaku came close to a second when he met Sanchez’s superb ball with a flying left-footed volley, but Courtois denied his international team-mate by tipping the ball over.

He swung the match decisively in United’s favour, though, when he slipped free on the right of the box and chipped in a cross that Lingard nodded home.

When Willian rounded off a move he started to score his fourth goal in his past three outings, everything looked to be falling into place for Antonio Conte’s side. The Blues had not lost after scoring first in the league since a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace on 1 April in 2017 – 22 games ago.

But things unravelled – and while Conte substituted the influential Eden Hazard, Mourinho’s decision to bring on Lingard was rewarded.

Conte will be aggrieved by the decision to disallow Morata’s late goal, and the Italian will look back at the visit to Old Trafford as an opportunity missed.

Much of the build-up to the match had centred on a verbal spat between the two managers over the preceding weeks.

Mourinho had referenced Conte’s four-month ban for failing to report match-fixing, for which the Italian was later cleared of any wrongdoing.

The Chelsea boss called his United counterpart “a little man” – though both played down the issue in their final news conferences before the match.

Conte said the dispute had “stopped”, while Mourinho said he would “not speak about it – not at all”.

Despite that, there was a frisson of interest about how – or perhaps if – they would greet each other before kick-off.

Mourinho was first out of the tunnel while Conte delayed his entrance slightly, but the pair shook hands before referee Martin Atkinson got the match under way.

There was another handshake at full-time, coupled with a conciliatory pat on the back of the head from Mourinho.

Neymar shows off heavily-strapped ankle after being taken off on a stretcher for PSG to cast doubt over being ready for Real Madrid return

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola admits he is worried about the severity of Neymar's injury after the Brazilian appeared to twist his ankle on Sunday.

Neymar rolled his ankle with 14 minutes remaining of PSG's 3-0 win over Marseille in Le Classique and had to be taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

The 26-year-old appeared in severe distress as he was brought off the field but his manager Unai Emery insisted he wasn't overly concerned, saying the club were hopeful the injury was 'nothing serious'.

'He is an important player for us and I hope he will come back soon. I do not know much more, there were a lot of people around him.'

PSG captain Thiago Silva echoed Areola's concerns, telling Canal+: 'I'm not a doctor but I don't think he'll be available on Wednesday [against Marseille in the French Cup]. He has to rest.'

The former Barcelona man took to Instagram in the early hours of Monday morning to show off his heavily strapped right ankle as he looks to make a speedy recovery.

PSG doubled their advantage 17 minutes later when Adrian Rabiot pulled back for Neymar to score via a big deflection off Rolando.

And Edinson Cavani sealed victory with his 24th goal of the season when he controlled, turned and smashed home the third 10 minutes into the second half.

The result extended PSG's advantage at the top of Ligue 1 to 14 points after second-placed Monaco had been held to a 3-3 draw at Toulouse on Saturday.

First Bank Reacts To Rumours That The Elephant On Its Logo May Swallow Customers Money

One of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has reacted to the recent trend of animal swallowing public funds in Nigeria. The reportage of snake swallowing N36m at a JAMB Office and a monkey eating another N70m instead of Banana took a viral dimension with Nigerians extending it to almost every aspect of national and personal lives.

A twitter user with the handle, @officialrohkip had tweeted thus:
“With the way animals swallow money now, I will have to close my @FirstBankngr account. I don’t trust that elephant on their logo….”.

Acknowledging the power of the social media and the probable impacts that may have on its customer base, the bank addressed the issue in a separate tweet saying:
“The Elephant on our logo represents trust, integrity, dependability, and loyalty. Let your First Bank account remain open. We are your trusted ally. #Stillstanding #Stilldependable #YouFirst .

Unlike the snake and monkey alleged to have swallowed money, First Bank restated that the elephant on its logo does not swallow customers’ deposits.

Emily Ratajkowski stunned the showbiz world when she announced she'd secretly MARRIED .

The 26-year-old model and boyfriend Sebastian Bear-McClard wed in a low-key ceremony at New York's City Hall on Friday.

The London-born model shunned big-money magazine deals, instead announcing the happy news on her Instagram account, captioned the sweet post with two ring emojis and the letters "ny".

But amongst the well wishes from celebs and fans, one person was a bit miffed at missing out on an invite.

Twitter's most hilarious star Chrissy Teigen tweeted tongue-in-cheek at her missing invite to the nuptials.

She wrote: "I’m oddly mad I wasn’t invited to @emrata’s wedding even though we barely speak...like, I like all your photos and leave flames on some."

The star - who is pregnant with her second child - also joked that she'd even bought the happy couple a wedding present.

She added: "Love you guys, here’s a gift from me," with a link to a site with free gift cards.

Emily played along with the joke, tweeting: "You would’ve looked great in a suit at city hall"

Emily, who has also worked as an actress, found fame when she danced topless in the video for Robin Thicke's 2013 single Blurred Lines.

The thrifty bride wore a mustard-yellow trouser suit from Zara.

The unconventional outfit comprised the high street store's long belted jacket, £79.99 and flared trousers, £39.99.

Sebastian is a producer and actor, who worked with Robert Pattinson on the 2017 film Good Times.

Did Vybz Kartel Gave Popcaan A Huge Shout-out On The Gram

There is no love lost between Vybz Kartel and Popcaan, at least not on the Unruly side.

Kartel and his former protege have a strained relationship since his incarceration in 2011, but over the years we’ve constantly seen Popcaan giving him shout-outs on stage and on social media even in the face of harsh criticism from Gazanation fans. While this is not a direct shout-out on Instagram, it’s a good enough gesture on the part of Vybz Kartel to recognize that Popcaan is still a product of his now disbanded Portmore Empire.

The World Boss posted an old clip on the Gram a few days ago from his single “Du Weh U Wah Fi Duh” which includes the Popcaan lyrics. “Yo see the corolla and think seh a cabbi / A addi wi give u supm fi deal wid u shabbi / Man a bawl and a seh don’t dweet mi daddy / Popcaan a go wadda dem / Becuz dem no bad at all a mi name them a call,” he deejays.

This track dates back to the early days of Portmore Empire before he was arrested in September 2011. Two of the main contentions Vybz Kartel and the people around him have with Popcaan is that he is an informer and he never visited the deejay behind bars. Tommy Lee Sparta also previously had a strained relationship with Kartel but has since repaired that relationship and even visited his former mentor at GP. The specifics of what he allegedly told police officers are not known to the public, but over the past few years we’ve seen Shawn Storm and Kartel’s sons, PG-13, release diss tracks calling Poppy an informer.

Why is this Instagram video significant? Knowing Vybz Kartel, if he had completely written off Popcaan he would not have included the portion of the lyrics in the video. Perhaps it’s a sign he is sending towards the Unruly Boss to make amends and let’s be father and son again.

Last month, Popcaan wished Vybz Kartel a happy birthday on his IG and got ripped by Gazanation fans.

Buju Banton Case: Drug Dealer Arrested AGAIN In Florida

Buju Banton is only months away from being released from prison but there is a major development related to his case.

Ian Thomas, who was arrested with Buju Banton in 2009, was arrested in Florida last week and charged with money laundering and unlawful use of a communications device charges. If you were following the case closely between 2009-2011, then you would have already known who Ian Thomas is. The 51-year-old was arrested with Buju Banton and James Mack and slapped with drug trafficking charges.

Thomas and Mack took a plea deal and was given reduced sentences, but Buju, real name Mark Myrie, fought his charges and lost. The reggae singer was sentenced to ten years in prison for three counts of cocaine charges. The singer says he knew Thomas since he was 19 years old. Thomas and James Mack were released from prison in 2013 and now he finds himself in more legal troubles that could see him spending years in prison.

Buju Banton’s defense support committee says this latest development vindicates the singer and shows that Thomas was not a credible witness. “This arrest shows that he (Thomas) was not credible, and we have always had an issue with that from the get-go,” the committee said. “Here it is he turned against Buju, entered a plea bargain, got a reduced sentenced, and almost immediately after, on his own, he’s found with drugs and arrested. They were the ones caught in the warehouse in 2009. Mark [Myrie] was arrested at his home. It’s clear at this point who was the drug dealer.”

Buju Banton says he was entrapped in a drug deal with police informant Alexander Johnson who claimed that the singer introduced him to Thomas and Mack. The two men were arrested at a warehouse in Miami while trying to make a drug deal. Cops showed a video footage in court of Buju tasting cocaine in said warehouse, but the singer says he was just doing it to make it seems like he was a legitimate drug dealer.

Buju Banton release date is set for December this year. He will also be deported to Jamaica.

The Bajan pop star celebrated her 30th birthday on Tuesday of this week and her family and friends threw a birthday party for her in New York City. Sources told Urban Islandz that the party was in the making for months and was mostly done in secret and no one spilled the details to Rihanna. Her BFF Melissa Forde even worked behind the scenes to get a handful of her favorite dancehall artists to record a dub for her which was played at the party for the first time.

Spice, Popcaan, Beenie Man, Beres Hammond, and Sizzla were all featured on the mashup with each artists taking turn to wish her a happy birthday. We’re told that Rihanna cried when he heard it for the first time at her birthday bash because these are some of her all-time favorite artists.

“She shed some happy tears because as you guys know she grew up listening to these guys who are some of her all-time favorite artists,” sources told us. “If you go to her house right now you will certainly hear some reggae music playing, it’s a Caribbean thing so even though she is a pop star and live in the states, she is still every bit a Caribbean gal.”

Melissa Forde also shout-out Beenie Man, Popcaan, Beres Hammond and Spice on Instagram. “@djspadenyc that bday dub plate last night was fuckinnn epic!! A man like Beenie Man, Beres Hammond, Popcaan and myyy bihhh Spice,” she wrote in the caption of a video.

Toni Braxton was also in attendance at Rihanna’s birthday party and even performed at the event. “And then this happened in real life singing with @tonibraxton I’m still on cloud 9 and nobody can’t tell me sh*tttt for de rest of the year,” Forde wrote.

Khloe Kardashian 'selects baby registry as shower is soon' while decorating TWO nurseries, in LA and Cleveland... with only 8 weeks left

'She hasn't sent in her final selections but one thing I can tell you is she's doubling up on everything because she's stocking two nurseries, one in LA and one in Cleveland.

'Her baby is going to be bi-coastal.'

A source also told ET on Friday: 'Khloe isn't worried about being a mother, she is more than prepared. Khloe has had training over the years with her numerous nieces and nephews. Khloe is just ready to be a mother.'
