MichelleObama continues to sprinkle her BlackGirlMagic across the world and now our forever FLOTUS is a best-selling author!
Michelle has sold more than 2 million copies of her memoir “Becoming” in all formats in North America in the book’s first 15 days, according to a statement released by Penguin Random House on Friday. Now in its sixth printing, the book has 3.4 million copies in print in the U.S. and Canada, according to @washingtonpost.
The memoir is the best-selling hardcover book of the year and is also the number one seller in several countries including Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Greece. The book is being published in 31 languages.
Michelle has been killing it on her book tour, which will make several stops in Europe next week. On Monday, she is expected to appear at a sold-out event with writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who was famously featured in Beyonce’s song “Flawless”. Michelle will then move onto Paris and Berlin later in the week.
She is expected to return to the states for an event in Detroit on December 11th with comedian Phoebe Robinson.
Not only has the book been a success, but so has the book tour. Michelle’s 10-city U.S. book tour has attracted sold-out crowds across the country. Fans have been willing to pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars to see her. One VIP seat for Michelle’s appearance in Dallas slated for December 17th is selling for more than $10,000.
Liz Harwell, the Senior Director of Merchandising, Trade Books at Barnes & Noble said, “We knew Becoming was going to be one of the biggest books of the year, but it has now officially had the best first week of sales of any book in 2018 and is among the fastest sellers in Barnes & Noble history. This is definitely the must-have book of the holiday season.”
