Lady Gaga sets the record straight after text messages sent to Kesha brand Katy Perry ‘mean’

Lady Gaga has addressed text messages sent to Kesha about Katy Perry, branding the singer a ‘mean’, as part of an unsealed testimony.

Gaga and Katy were dragged into the case Kesha had launched against producer Dr Luke, after she alleged he had sexually assaulted her. However, now text messages have emerged that were allegedly unsealed in Dr Luke’s defamation case against Kesha.

In text messages that surfaced throughout the case, they showed conversations between Kesha and Gaga, in which the latter labelled Katy Perry ‘mean’ and ‘not as strong’ as Kesha was, because, as Kesha was saying, the Roar singer had been ‘raped by the same man’ but could ‘undo the whole case’ by not admitting it.

‘Was crying a lot today and needed my mom. I’m really upset with Katy Perry,’ Kesha told Gaga in the text exchange on 26 February, 2016, according to Radar Online. ‘[Katy] could bring the whole thing to a head …

She was raped by the same man. She is probably really afraid to lose everything.’ Gaga replied: ‘U are really strong standing up to him, she’s not as strong as u yet. ‘Have you talked to her?’ ‘[You’re] right,’ Kesha replied. ‘I need to find sympathy and empathy for her. She’s so mean. It’s hard.’

‘Do you want me to see if I can talk to her?” Gaga said. “I know she’s mean.’ Kesha then allegedly asked if Gaga was friendly with Katy, to which Gaga reportedly replied: ‘NO…omg NO. ‘She makes me angry about shit [but] I just try to have empathy for her.’

Now, over the weekend the Star Is Born actress took to Twitter to set the record straight, after her messages were released to the public. ‘@katyperry & I have grown up in the industry together.

We’ve gone through both celebrations & differences w/ each other,’ she wrote. ‘These are old texts. We’ve matured, gotten over the past, love each other & share deep respect. Katy is my friend and is truly a kind soul. End of story.’
