Avicii’s ex-girlfriend has spoken out after the news the Swedish DJ has died. The 28-year-old, real name Tim Bergling, was found dead while holidaying in Muscat, Oman, with friends. Celebrities and colleagues including Calvin Harris, Madonna and Nile Rodgers have paid tribute to the EDM icon in wake of the news. And now, Emily Goldberg, who dated Avicii from 2011 until 2013, has shared a heartbreaking post on her ex’s passing. The former George Washington University student shared a number of pictures of herself with the DJ, including a number of them kissing and cuddling.
Emily wrote: ‘“Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.” Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me. I wish I could have lived up to them. ‘For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear [the dog they shared] without knowing I’ll never see his face again. ‘I’m still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. Wake me up when it’s all over, because I don’t want it to be real.’ Emily also shared a screenshot of texts from the DJ, reading: ‘Hi Kittyyyy’ and ‘I love you too Emilyyyy.’ Emily’s friends and followers shared their condolences in the comments section.
Avicii was not believed to be dating anybody at the time of his death. He was last known to have been in a relationship with model Racquel Natasha Bettencourt, with their romance ending in 2014. Racquel, who is at Coachella, has not yet publicly addressed her ex’s passing. Avicii’s cause of death has not yet been revealed, with his agent confirming the sad news.
