The Oscar-winning team are reuniting for the remake, plus Beyonce and Seth Rogan are involved too
Sir Elton John has confirmed that he is working on the soundtrack of the upcoming remake of The Lion King.
Alongside Tim Rice, the singer gained a Best Song Oscar for his work on the original 1994 film.
Speaking to The Sun, John, 70, has confirmed that he will return to the studio to record a new end credits song.
The singer said: “They need to have a new end credits song. There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’, ‘Hakuna Matata’, ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ and ‘Circle of Life’.
“And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something.
“That’s going out in 2019 as well. And it will be great to work with her. So we will see.”
Disney confirmed that a live-action remake of the nineties animated classic was in the works back in 2016. It was also confirmed that Beyonce would join the cast to voice Nala, Simba’s love interest.
The film is expected to be released in 2019.
Alongside Beyonce, Donald Glover is to voice Simba, while James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa. Seth Rogan, Alfre Woodard and John Oliver will also be joining the cast.
Earlier this month, Sir Elton John announced a huge world tour, which is rumoured to be his last.
The superstar also recently confirmed that answering an ad in NME helped to change his life.
