Beyonce can work any look she sets her mind to – and it looks like her latest inspiration could be Rapunzel. The 36-year-old sported knee-length braids on a date night with husband Jay-Z, and surprising nobody, she rocked it.
Beyonce had her insanely long braids pulled back into a ponytail, with her tresses actually extending beyond the hem of her skirt, which is pretty impressive if you ask us. The Formation singer wore a black mini-dress with a pair of furry heels, and accessorised with metallic earrings, allowing her hairdo to take all the attention.
Beyonce was pictured outside Mandolin in Miami with Jay-Z and a number of friends, with the group enjoying a Mediterranean dinner at the restaurant. Jay-Z, 48, complemented his wife’s look like a good husband by also wearing all black, although he wore slightly more casual trainers. Earlier in the evening, the power couple attended a JP Morgan event, explaining why they were so dolled up. This date night outing comes after Beyonce’s father Mathew Knowles claimed his daughter wouldn’t be as successful if she were darker-skinned.
Speaking to Ebony, Destiny’s Child’s former manager said: ‘When it comes to black females, who are the people who get their music played on pop radio? ‘Mariah Carey, Rihanna, the female rapper Nicki Minaj, my kids [Beyonce and Solange], and what do they all have in common?’ The interviewer replied: ‘They’re all lighter skinned’, with Mathew saying: ‘Do you think that’s an accident?’ After the interviewer said ‘of course not’, Mathew quipped: ‘So you get it.’ The businessman said that he challenges his students while guest-teaching at Texas Southern University to think about how colourism affects people in the music industry.
