‘Thank-you for bringing me into the world’: Sir Elton John pays touching tribute as he attends his mother’s funeral

Elton John has said goodbye to his late mum a month after her death, paying his respects with a touching message.
Sheila Farebrother's funeral, attended just by her family members, was held at the same place where his nan lived out her last days.
Sir Elton opened up his own family chapel to host the service, but appeared to confirm he wouldn't be attending her funeral tomorrow, which will just be attended by her friends.
Sharing a picture of what appears to be her coffin plaque on Instagram, Elton captioned it: "Dear Mum, today's funeral was perfect.
"Having the service in the family chapel and attended by your brother and sister brought us all comfort. Having the service where Nan lived out her final days brought you and your Mother back together again."
He went on: "Tomorrow your friends will gather separately to say their good byes. I’ve chosen all the music so everything will be just right.
"Thank-you for bringing me into the world and for all that you have done for me. Love, Elton #RIP."
The I'm Still Standing singer had a troubled relationship with his mother and the two spent several years not speaking, until he buried the hatchet by sending her an enormous bouquet of white orchids on her 90th birthday.
He told the Mirror at the time: "We are now back in touch. Out of respect for my mother's privacy, I have always shied away from speaking publicly about our relationship.
"However, I can say that we are now back in touch and have been so since my mother’s 90th birthday."
Despite their eight long years of silence, Elton continued to pay for Sheila's lifestyle and spent £30,000 for her to have a double hip replacement two years ago.
Their feud began, as she once revealed, over Elton's demands Sheila cut contact with two of her longtime friends, who were formerly employees of the singer's.
Bob Halley, who had worked as Elton's chauffeur and personal assistant for 30 years, and former manager John Reid had stayed in touch with Sheila, enraging Elton.
She once revealed to the Daily Mail: "I told him: 'I'm not about to do that and drop them. Bob is like a son to me. He has always been marvellous to me and he lives nearby and keeps an eye on me.'"
Elton, according to Sheila, flew into a rage and hung up on his elderly mother.
"Then to my utter amazement, he told me he hated me. And he then banged the phone down. Imagine! To me, his mother!" Sheila said at the time.
Sheila hit headlines in March 2015 when she hired an Elton John impersonator to perform at her 90th birthday.
While the real Elton wasn't invited to the bash, stand-in Paul Bacon was paid to come along and duet with the real Kiki Dee.
