AMANDA DAVIS has died after suffering from a stroke while she travelled to her step-father’s funeral yesterday.
She worked as an anchor at Fox5 Atlanta for 26 years before retiring in 2013.
Amanda also spent some time at CBS46 who shared the sad news when her death broke.
They posted: “Her family is asking for privacy at this difficult time. Amanda’s friends and colleagues at CBS 46 are praying for her family.”
Her colleagues also shared their condolences on Twitter, with one posting: “In total and complete shock right now. Please pray for comfort and peace for Amanda’s family.
Amanda, who previously won several awards including ten Southeast Emmy Awards, spoken out previously about her battle with alcoholism.
She told The Atlanta Journal Constitution in 2016 that she thought she was a “social drinker”, but often questioned whether she had a “problem”.
Amanda confessed: “I wanted to believe that there was still a way they could help me control it.”
